Mods and macs
« on: May 22, 2008, 08:51:00 pm »

So I play this game on a Mac, awesome game. But I see some of these add-ons, dwarf foreman is looking particularly nice, and I'm wondering if those will work on a mac, previous experience with such add ons is no. But i'm an eternal optimist, so there's that question out in the open.

Anything that's a compiled executable file (e.g. a .exe file) will not run natively on the Mac. Things that modify the raws (e.g. creating new creatures) will work fine, and that's generally what people mean when they refer to "mods", but those aren't really programs. Additionally, if anyone made a program in Java or an interpreted language which modified the game, then that'd work too, due to the cross-platform nature of such languages.
