You know you're hooked when you start spotting dorf-like objects in Real Life... Here I'd like to invite everyone to post pictures, stories, or sketches of objects that strike us as being suspiciously fun.

I'd like to introduce the theme by posting the following artifact:

bronze idol

Sorry about the scaling; the upload site blew it up.

Edit: I haven't got any spikes or spike-like things to menace it with.

Allergies are a lot like when a wild animal wanders into the fortress and triggers a pressure plate that was supposed to be a goblin-eliminator when the fortress is already in lockdown, flooding the main hall with magma (and thereby killing most of your population since the fort's not in siege lockdown). If you think that's an exagerration, you haven't had really bad allergies -- or any of the handful of things that are technically a type of allergy or a condition related to allergies but are far more painful (asthma, food allergies, or food allergies' sneakier cousin eosinophilia). And yes, your body is a Dwarf Fortress. In fact, I have come to believe everything is a Dwarf Fortress; however, I will have to come back and relate more if I remember this thread when I notice again any of the other examples I have had.

I have an idea. Let's play a game where you win by being as quiet as possible.
I get it, it's one of those games where losing is fun!
I spend most of your dimension's time outside of your dimension. I can't guarantee followup or followthrough on any comments, ideas, or plans.

Historically, Russia has come up with a wide variety of military hardware which is so powerful it's impractical. A couple examples:

-Both the Americans and the Russians tried to make airborne aircraft carriers. The Americans did it by making the carried planes little, the Russians by making the carrying plants HUGE.
-The Tsar bomb. It's the largest nuke ever built. And it was scaled down from its original design, which would create a blast so large that the plane carrying the bomb could not escape the blast radius before it exploded.

Also, Maccu Pichu seems like a megaproject.

Mount Rushmore and the Crazy Horse Memorial (when it's done in like 100 years) probably qualify.

That's the point, it wouldn't be as fun to crush their souls if they didn't have souls to begin with.

The thousand year clock. It should count down for a thousand years, thus really scaring future civilizations.

I had an above ground garden built in the grounds of my castle and two young dwarves spent time socialising there over the summer and at the end of the summer they were in love. Remember those long summers of your childhood? That first kiss in the gardens while crossbows dwarves shoot goblins above your head? The rain of dead birds as the hunters get to work? Truly Spearhills is a paradise.

But the building destroying titans will get it before then, right?

India was quite the Dwarfy place a while ago. Elephants trained for war, a complex system that made every viable human belonging to a certent social status, and palaces in memorium of wives and rulers all sound dwarfy to the extreme.
