Above-ground, exposed to the elements of the world.

What's the point of searching for the perfect embark if you're not going to build a megaproject on it? And as the best megaprojects are ones that look good in (Stonesense) screenshots, most megaprojects need to be aboveground. But having all that Dwarf-related paraphernalia exposed to the open air would just clutter up the scene, better stash all that crap where it won't be visible.
