Trading caged creatures?
« on: May 26, 2008, 12:39:00 am »

Is it possible without releasing the creature? I tried it twice with a pair of caged frogmen I've got and for some reason the frogmen got released each time. If so, How do you do it? I tried to trade them by going to Pets and selecting the Frogmen cages.

Thanks in advance.

Just trade the cages. It might be that untamed creatures get a chance to escape that way, but regular animals stay in the cage.

Also I believe that escapes, in situations where they are possible, are a lot less likely (impossible? I'm not certain) if the cage is metal rather than wood (terrariums I have no clue about).

The metal would add to the trade value anyway, being a more valuable construction material than wood (assuming you can produce it in comparable quality levels, since wood crafts are often far easier to train dwarves up to mastery in).

Is this the problem you're having? If so, I would also like the answer. I tried this once with some unicorns, but the dwarf who hauled the cage was attacked and her baby son had his arm mangled. (No one died, but the baby spent the first three years of his childhood in bed trying to heal his arm.)

Nearly. The problem I had involved a rather ornery caged werewolf in the middle of my meeting area, who was released from his cage so he could be hauled to the trade depot. He didn't agree with that. Much hilarity followed.
