What happens if you deconstruct those traps and put them back exactly where they were?
OP mentioned in "Second edit:" that he "added a weapon trap with a single silver battle axe, and it blocks access.", so unless WTs behave differently from the CTs that he had had to remove in the first place I take that as meaning they would.

(In his setup.  The fact that there are others without this might mean other factors are at work...)
Reconstructing in 34.08 a trap from a 34.07 fortress, that was not blocking depot access in 34.08, does cause it to now block depot access.  I just tried it.   :'(

didn't toady say something about reworking items and their volumes some?  Basically the max that can fit in a space and all that.  Then the fact that wagons were already a special entity of some sort (Multiple spots maybe?), I could see this being a bug resulting from those two things somehow.

well, the simple soltion is to make a side-passage that winds around a little as wagon access. Goblins take the shortest route iirc, so a longer path will make them take your short death trap

Jam a door with its corpse and let all the goblins in. Hey, nobody said it had to be a weapon against your enemies.

What about lowered upright spikes?

Has anyone done a bug report for this? From what I'm reading, the behavior sounds really wonky one way or another.

... And what's wrong with the airlock system? :P

So long as your depot doesn't directly connect to your fort, you can still keep all your traps in the only entrance enemy siegers can "see".

[CURIOUS_BEAST]s for one thing. Especially if you want to tame that polar bear instead of killing it.

Except cage traps are working for some people and not for others it seems.

For another, people are saying pressure plates are blocking access too, which in addition to being a pain, also makes no sense.
