One of my dwarfs has taken over a carpenter's shop.  It looks like he needs "tree... life..." (wood) and "cloth... thread..." (cloth).  I have plenty of both available, and it looks like he has two logs in the workshop with him already.  But, he never leaves to go get the other items.  Is there a specific type of cloth that he could be looking for, or will any do?

Silk thread, probably.  Unless you have a chasm or a cave, you'll need to import it.

Not thread - they don't actually ever want thread.

He either wants silk cloth or plant fiber cloth, they specify between the two but any type will work (for example he won't ask for giant cave spider silk or rope reed cloth specifically).

So, you mean that if I have cloth of any kind, he should be satisfied?  Or, do you mean that they have a particular type of cloth in mind, but will not tell you?

Basically, they'll want either plant fiber cloth or silk, and whatever type of those doesn't mind. Eg, if he wanted plant fiber, it wouldn't matter if it was rope reed or pig tail, if he wanted silk, it wouldn't matter if it was regular or giant cave spider

Ah, I see!  But, if he wants plant fiber, no silk cloth will do.  Got it.  Thanks.
