urist, why wont you try and push the minecart?

I created a minecart track from my warehouse to my trade depot,
first : I cant get the dwarves to push it, they will take it then bring it to the next stop not using the tracks at all. I have an excalamation mark on my stops saying "set track dir" but whatever I do (meaning setting the option to "push east when fully loaded with desired good" and "take from stockpile 2") I cant get the little buggers to push the damned cart along the tracks... what am I doing wrong?

Just a shot in the dark

you probably put your route stop on a track stop

but didn't put the track stop on track.

I did put my track stop on a "north" track...

damnit, when I use a nort south track it works... so what use are "north" or "south" only tracks?

edit 2 no, in fact it does not work either

Carts on a "north" track can only go north; they're used as end pieces.

You said you're trying to push your cart east? You'll need an "east" track for that, or "east-west", or whatever fits your design, as long as it has "east" in it.

Wait, if you have n/s tracks, why are you telling them to push east and wondering why they aren't doing it?

ok, on the top level it is a north south track. when told to push south they does not. in the bottom level it is east west, when told to push east they doesnt

edit, in the hauling screen I have exclamation marks "set dir/connect track" I dont get what I have to do

OK, so you built the track entirely, and then you built the stops on top of existing tracks, the you said stop at the top push south, and the track going off the the left to push east? And you know the track is complete, any ramps have walls behind them?

Edit: also, did you delete any extra conditions? If they're saying push default direction, that might be giving the error...

How very odd... Sounds like you're doing it all right. The track looks continuous, right? At the ends, the last tiles, the lines match to the lines of the track, and then goes to the flat line, right? At no point does the track goes off onto the blank space of another tile?

Last thing i can think might be wrong, if that's done right, a save put on DFFD is the last option. Or a ton of screen shots of every part and every screen, but a save is easier :p

Track ramps are tricky. They're not analogous to regular track; the "direction" of a track ramp is what direction they go up in.

So if you're going up+east, you want an "east" track ramp. Even though, if the track were flat, you'd have wanted an "east-west" regular track.
