Dungeon fighter online is a sidescrolling beatemup game ala streets of rage / all of the best games in the arcades of the 1980s by Neople, the original devs (I think?) regained from Nexon after the fallout. The animations are excellent, the pixel art is beautiful, and the combat is great. Ten out of ten, I assure you. To boot Neople are stand up folks and have been regularly keeping in touch with the american audiance, and, get this, FREE RESETS. No kiddin.

Bosses are enormous, look amazing, and are well known for blowing the hell out of you the first couple of times (again, aside from the first area, although some of them will certainly put you on the ropes and perhaps kill you if you're not terribly good at action games). On top of all this, all items in the cash shop can be bought from other players, with gold, which is easy to accumulate.

PvP is pretty nice as well, being a side scrolling brawler dealie. Some people genuinely just play the PvP, and talk about such arcane terms as frame advantage and all that fighting game business, so it's pretty A+ too.

There are a multitude of classes. Some notes of interest are: There are some male/female classes. You'd think they were carbon copies, but THEY ARE NOT. They play fairly differently, honestly. If you don't like female fighter, don't be afraid to give male fighter a try. Many sub classes also exhibit different playstyles required, despite the same "end goal" (namely, kill all the other dudes ASAP) A list can be found
here. Some may or may not be in the open beta, just take note. They'll be along someday.

So you read all that shit or maybe just skipped to the bottom because vidjr games, and here is your link for hopefully doing the first but probably doing the second (It's okay, I understand): Here.

And here is a build planner if you're about that. Free resets now though, so don't stress! Neople is great. You should probably give them money if you're able (note: no cash shop in open beta, keep your eyes open!) so this doesn't go under, because they are being hyper generous and generally good natured about all this.

Want people to play with? Take a look! Add yourself! It'll be great.

Guilds are Deadboats in East (Cain), and Deaderboats in West (Delegie).

I remember I used to play this from before Thieves. Am I cool yet? :P
I don't know why I stopped. I guess because it was just me and my sister and that was super boring. I'll look into this game again, if I'm not too busy.

Yeah, I played it way back when too, back when priests still had long hair and looked like the punisher. :P

At the time there were a ton of questionable design decisions which is why I stopped. Luckily they have fixed all of them. They've been doing a great job with the game lately, even if security is still subpar.

I personally liked the old look but yes, priests look like actually priests now. Still enormous dudes, but they're wearing priestly attire. :p

Ho boy, dungeon fighter. Played it a while back, up until shortly after female gunner was released. I drifted away because I was tried of searching for public parties, and at mid to high level soloing can be TEDIOUS as hell. I always have a problem finding a good group to play with. Hell if a number of people here play and start up something, I would hop on in a second.

Yep, that was part of the reason I started this up. Finding public parties is an enormous task, and while they've taken steps in the right direction, it's still not easy. Getting a decent Bay12 group up and going would do wonders. Be sure to post your usernames so I can throw em in the bottom of the OP so people can friend you and hopefully get some parties going! The first area is easy enough to solo, but it rapidly becomes a huge task to solo. Not to say it's impossible, but you definitely need a good control setup and equipment.

EDIT: On that note, feel free to add both my characters. I'm happy to help out whenever.

Well I finally managed to get it running again. (God forbid I remember it uses the browser to start and that has to be set to run as admin too) Only to discover my character was deleted or some such.

Ah Well their skills were all over the place anyway. Hit up the Gunner KaitolEx if you're raring for some lowbie action.

AyeAye! I'll add ya on both my chars. And for anyone thinking about joining up, lemme give you an excerpt from my session with the game last night, I played for a few hours, and unlike an average MMO, where this might get you a level, I managed to net 3. And THis doesn't really get worse, until way up into 50-60. And the level cap is 70. And it doesn't even really feel like grinding then, because again, the game is fun to play.

And despite the connection issues, if you look hard enough, you can find some people you can party with. It's just a matter of partying as often as possible until you find someone you have decent latency with, which, with any luck, this thread will alleviate the pain of.

For anyone interested, a town invasion is happening now! Hop on and try to help out if you like. Kinda hard, but deaths don't really steal anything from you.

EDIT: Info about which can be found here.

Yet another post. Me and Kaitol just did a few runs of a lowbie area, and while with low latency things will look CRAZY (at one point I saw a mob fly up off the top of the screen and just never come back down for some reason, KaitolEx was moonwalking at some point, etc) the game still plays fairly well. The lag typically isn't so bad that the monsters will be just miles away from where your screen is showing them as, so you can still target things fairly accurately.

And a bigger thing, I've recently found out my Monk already has almost everything required for a Guild. These provide bonuses even to you soloing types, so even if you've joined this game with the intent to solo, lemme know your username(s) so I can invite you. Guilds have levels which effect various things, most of which being the passive bonuses the guild gives to it's members. Boosted stats, better exp, etc.

Also we need a name for it. So start throwing some out there.

The last time I tried to play this, I was informed thusly:

"Fuck you, you british fuck.
We don't have servers in the UK for this game, and we don't plan to.
Get fucked."

Not in those exact words, of course, but the message was the same. I really hope they've sorted that out, since they told me that back in mid-2010, iirc.
EDIT: wait no there's that message again. Nexon, you incompetent fucks, you never fail to disappoint.

This is one of the reasons I kind of don't want to come back. I mean, it's a great game, but I don't like Nexon.

Yeah, that is kind've a pain. They recently introduced oceania servers, which unfortunatly only included new zealand and australia I believe. Maybe more in the works for the future? Only thing to hope for. :-\

EDIT: Or use a proxy, but I'm willing to bet you already knew that.

I strongly recommend the game. I've played quite a large chunk of mmo's out there, and this one has held my interest the most. Even if you don't normally like fighting games or sidescrolling fighting games, there's probably a subclass that you'll enjoy. Don't let the whole hacking thing scare you. And if you have an old PC its perfect.

Yeah, if you keep on top of changing your password, there's really nothing that can be done to you. And I believe it's been a while since their last hacking incident, so maybe they're getting on top of it finally.

And there are plenty of classes that don't really requite dodging around at top speed trying to avoid attacks. I mean no class can stand in the center of a huge mob of enemies for too long, but that's not really the intent.

If you're looking for something a bit more passive, I can reccomend Crusader, which is a buffing class, with heavy armor. Buff allies, and then buff yourself and wade in there.

EDIT: And apparently the game will litterally make you change your password once every few days, so yeah, things should be fine.
