Out of 20. I think 1000 damage crit punch was 5% of her health. So she had 20000 health, and I was averaging 200 a punch non-crit/low roll.

Really it was the having 1 skill in Brawling and no perks that was the more surprising. All my points are in Int, Hacking, Technical Ability in crafting.

Breaking news: Skinny hacker kicks the shit out of roided out professional fighter!....eventually.
Its like in one of those horror movies when they hit the monster with something and they go down... and run away instead of killing them, and you go "JUST FINISH THEM YOU IDIOT".
Well that's exactly what your character did, even though it took a minute of plinking them to death to do so.

Video apology and explanation from the Co-Founder of CD Projekt Red for the release of Cyberpunk 2077: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O3V4UBZmC9o

On the one hand, good. You won't see many if any owners of big studios and publishers ever coming out and doing a mea culpa.

On the other though, this probably has to do with the fact that several investors in CD Projekt Red are suing, and CDPR is being investigated by the equivalent of the Polish Better Business Bureau. So they're taking this into the court of public opinion....but at least they did it about as well as you can hope for, by actually taking responsibility for biting off more than they could chew, having eyes bigger than their stomach, or whatever you want to call the overreach to hit as many platforms as possible. (And according to scuttlebutt, changing the story midway through development to provide a larger role for Keanu Reeves.)

It's also what just tends to happen with games that have been in development forever. They're constantly having to keep up with tech as they try to complete game.

I'm at 110 hours, and at like 60%/30%/30% for the main story arc completions. Think I'll probably finish it out before I make an unnecessarily long post about how I feel.

I'll probably get this game some day on sale. That's how I obtain most AAA titles; quite often they are on sale prior to a big release such as the next in the series. On the plus side for that there is often an Enhanced or GOTY edition or something with bug fixes or additions or all the costly DLC bundled. The downside for me doing this isn't personal; it's effect is that I rarely throw money at stuff full price unless I'm really into it; and that's bad for developers probably. I suppose that is a reflection of what I saw in a Robert Reich documentary once about lack of spending ability in the hands of the working poor really hurting semi-luxury producers though in that the example was pillows rather than entertainment.

For example the only thing I am considering buying full price is the new Mechwarrior game because I've played those since I was like nine and used to stomp around my yard pretending I was a giant robot when no one was looking (snowballs were my weapon systems pew pew). Once that is on Steam, which it is not for understandable $PROFIT$ motivations in one platform offering a sweeter deal to compete with Steam, I will pick it up.

More of a role for Keanu? His ending is still lackluster.

Early trailers had a different ghost for each background, and probably less going on with them, but then Keanu became the game's big selling point, even though he's mostly a meme.  I would've vastly preferred a better actor with less "star power" (does keanu even have that?  Yeah, john wick is popular, but aside from that the matrix was 20 years ago...)

Well Keanu was Johnny Mnemonic (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0113481/) which was pretty damn cyberpunk, so I don't think his appearance here has that much to do with The Matrix tbh...

There's also Matrix 4 coming out.... sometime whenever movies stop being perpetually pushed back in the hopes theaters will recover. But I'd say John Wick is a bigger draw right now. From my anecdotal experience there's a lot of crossover between fans of that and fans of video games like Cyberpunk.

Keanu Reeves I'd consider to have soft star power, especially since he can draw both people who grew up in the 90s and folks who like John Wick, and his reputation for being a nice guy in real life probably doesn't hurt either.

I don't think Johnny Mnemonic is pumping Keanu's star power, even for the people who remember it.  He has some for sure, Matrix and John Wick are both good, but like, it's not like Arnold where his charisma and performance are what make his movies memorable, even if the performance isn't very good.  Keanu carrying cyberpunk feels more like meme power than star power.

In any case it's definitely not just scuttlebutt that they rewrote things to make Keanu more central.  Even in the original gameplay preview you can see that there's three different biochip engrams, for other canonical cyberpunk characters.  Then he got up on stage and went "cyberpuuuuunk" for 10 minutes and it became a meme and they decided to make him the face of the game.

Well, he personally wanted a deeper involvement in the project. But that led to a lot of people who'd been working on the game for years as voice actors and whatever getting canned.

So nice guy, yeah, 90s cyberpunk memes, yeah, but it really seems like he helped disrupt a game that was already having issues meeting commitments. I'm sure CDPR leadership saw his interest and went "oh yeah, this will knock the game out of the park with his star power" and went whole hog redesigning the story around him.

I don't personally have a problem with his presence and I've enjoyed the JSH character. But I wouldn't blame anyone who basically got forced out of the game by his presence for being kinda bitter. And I think it is also related to the fact that CP2077 has very little replay value. All the stories funnel to the same place, because they all have to do with JSH, which makes your choices seems barely skin deep. Like, I would play through again maybe to try a different build but there seems to be no real other reason to besides various endings. The actual flow of the story seems largely the same. The backgrounds govern like, a couple missions where the corpo players have a different start and a different mid-story accent mission than the streetkid. But that's it as far as I've seen.

i agree with most of this; im also ok with JSH being the center of the story and it was rather gripping with decent, if not great, voice acting at points. personally i chose the nomad lifepath and it gets a lot of "flavor text" around that part of the story: with your ability to bring it up and the npcs remembering it and reflecting it back during certain cutscenes. very well done way to integrate it but each of the lifepaths should really get a little more "flavor text" and a long side campaign that parallels the main story. in fact, it really feels like each of the lifepath starts do refer to a side story that just goes nowhere. for example:

with cdprojekt red on the defense, however, i really dont feel we'll see something like this for a while. but if they deal with the bugs, performance issues and balance, and then release 3 seperate dlc that adds a whole side campaign for each of the lifepaths, i will probably buy them.

With projects like this that wind up in development hell for a long time, it always seems like the development process is more interesting than the actual result.

Like I'd love to see a documentary on the making of this game from start to finish, or something like the Hobbit trilogy, more than the actual final product at this point.

I always viewed Keanu Reeves as one of those actors who can strike a pose and move pretty well, but every time he opens his mouth, he comes out sounding kind of dumb for some reason... Though it might just be a side-effect of the roles he ends up in. (Which also made his casting in Bill and Ted... quite fitting.)

From a marketing standpoint though, it worked. This totally flew under my radar (I generally ignore the genre, as about 80% of the stuff with this kind of a camera give me severe migraines) until people started discussing KR's inclusion in the project, and there was some football game that featured a CP2077 ad where my parents basically went "Hey, did Keanu go back to making computer movies instead of John Wick? Looks fun, when's it coming out?"

Also: Gotta love the eye-phone from Johnny Mnemonic.

I haven't played through the whole main story yet but.....

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

The more I play of the CP2077 main story, the more it's kinda of starting to just look like misery porn. And even though betrayal and getting used is basically part and parcel of the Cyberpunk setting, it's a little galling now to walk into a new set of missions, get told you have to do something and realize you'll probably end up getting dicked over in some seemingly important but ultimately inconsequential way.

Wouldn't that make Billy Idol a better choice than Ted "Theodore" Logan?

It didn't occur to me to do that but maybe I should've.  I was planning on it as I went back after you know what, but got sidetracked by the conversations subsequent, plus the usual video game hesitance to try killing people who aren't enemies, what if it fucks up the game or just gives me a game over, etc.
