The news always says things are getting worse, right? It always seems like the world is collapsing. Gangs overrunning the streets, the axis of evil preparing to strike, oil running out... You eventually tune it out, you can't take all this stuff, you have a hard enough time dealing with everyday life as is. You may have been paying attention to the news, or you may have not, when Russia elected a neo-nazi party in a landslide election, due to the recession and such. Russia and China began manufacturing nukes, a lot of them. Eventually, they dropped out of the UN entirely and declared themselves to be in an alliance. It was the cold war all over again. Not that you'd notice in the streets, it was just regular clock in, clock out work. The only thing was that there was a lot more scared whispers, a few more crackdowns on liberty, a few more suicide cults...

Then it got really bad. The Utkin-Zou Initiative (That's what Russia and China called their little buddy-club) invaded countries, right up to Denmark. That was December 16th. December 19th was when it peaked.

It was about midnight. Maybe you were asleep, maybe you were watching TV, but you definitely heard the air raid siren. TV said that Russia and China had launched a lot of nuclear missiles at America, and that we launched a lot of missiles back. You ran like hell to your basement, maybe an shelter if you or someone nearby had one, and waited. An hour of explosions and two weeks of waiting later, you opened up the shelter's top... And when you saw what happened to your neighborhood, you knew nothing would ever be the same again.

You did what you could for the next few months. Scavenged, hunted, killed mutants... You had almost forgotten how to speak when you saw another human. Then you and the other guy saw another guy, and soon there was five of you all together. You were all just trying to survive, and hey... Sticking together is a good idea, right? Better then nothing. You might just survive, too.

This RTD uses standard rules, however, there is one difference: You have a map to tell exactly where you are, and I will add stuff to it as the game goes on. There are two maps.

Spoiler: Overworld (click to show/hide)

The Overworld is the general world. Places you are in are fully lit, places you have not visited are black, places you have visited are grayed out. This won't be shown often, only when you move to a new area. That map is what we will be starting as, incidentally, but more will be added as time goes on.

This map is closer to the action. You will be able to spot what's going on, where you are, and where the other players are. Expect to see this map a lot.

Rating Scale:When you scavenge in a building, the building on the map is marked with the result of the roll for future reference. This is not only for scavenging, but for how generally good a building is for defense, shelter, etc.
Dangers: In a post-nuclear world, things aren't rosy. There are dangers. Don't tread near the places you see these dangers if you don't have good weapons, but you might not always see the dangers first thing. Mutants are generally non-sentient mutated animals (Or at least, similar to animals) who simply want to kill and eat your flesh. Environmental dangers can range from deadly radiation to a trap-laden street. Bandits are sentients who wish to rob you or kill you to get your food, shelter or satisfy the voices in their heads. They are smart, and will use tactics such as cover and use guns. They are as pragmatic as you, though, so you can negotiate.
Players: You are displayed as a circle of whatever color you want. Feel free to wander about, you'll be marked on the map along with your buddies. No location confusion in this RTD.
Home: Due to realizing I forgot this, I'll explain this concept fully. See the green double-cross? That will be marked on buildings you have modified to be your home base. At the start, you won't have a base yet. This is the place you stockpile items, sleep and perhaps play cards with the other guys, if you find some. You do have to take time off, since this RTD does use time of day.

Name: What the name of your character is.
Gender: Male or female?
Personality: What is s/he like? To avoid the problem of me ruining your character concept.
Equipment: You can have two things: An item, and armor. You can specify what kind of item or armor you want ("I want a pistol and combat armor") and I will roll for what you get ("I rolled a 3 and a 2: Your pistol is a Beretta with one clip, and your armor is tattered and more duct tape then kevlar."). You have to take what you can get in the terrible future of humanity.

Orin Malleus - Tiruin
Composite Bow: [3] String snapped and replaced, a few bits of duct tape here and there. Not as effective as it could be, but it's still a good weapon. Ten arrows with makeshift, scrap metal arrowheads.
Flak Jacket with Leg Guards: [1] Mostly cannibalized from inferior armor. Ineffective as result.

Rella Fantadon - TCM
Medical Kit: [5] The perfect first aid kit. From bruises to internal bleeding.
SWAT Gear: [1] Tattered, goggles smashed, what little kevlar remaining mostly ineffective.

Anthony Johnson - Urist McWanderer
M1911A1: [3] Not a bad gun at all! Slightly weathered, but no jams so far. Two clips worth of ammo.
Riot Shield: [3] Kinda cracked, but it won't break any time soon.

Nikolae Kriegsmacher - Caellath
Anti-Material Rifle: [3] Officially registered to the Russians, but are they gonna mind Nick borrowing it a spell? One clip, waaaay too powerful for it's own good, and bucks like a mule, but it's good for blowing up the target... and the rest of the building around him.
Modern Combat Armor: [1] Torn up badly, faceplate is shattered, civvie clothing would be preferable.

Aaaron - Skyrunner
Blowgun: [6] It's a really good blowgun, however, it uses a specalized dart that is quite rarely found, and ordinary darts detract from the shot by -1.
Camo Armor: [4] Surprisingly survived the cataclysm with flying honors, not looking amazingly dented and preforming as well against stab wounds and indirect gunshots as it should. +1.

Maegan Oswell - Barbequedcinders
Crossbow: [6] It's very high quality, but it has a problem with fragility. It hasn't broken yet, but it's not impossible.
Gas Mask: [4] A high quality filter, little risk of leakage and has a visor that allows you to look around without moving your head.
