Stash the "loot" behind a bush or a tree, somewhere away from the town.  THEN try to steal another ship.

This game has little to do with bard-ism.  Wanna change the title?

Burn the inn, with a torch, or a match or anything, then get away.  People won't be focusing on the items stolen.

You walk onto your ship, and dump the tables and chairs and silverware upon it, then have your two remaining mateys move it to a less obvious spot than above deck.

Then, you walk onto the ship next to yours while singing off-key and obtain the title for it the previous owner had left in the captain's quarters.

Your sword was stolen by the previous owner of your ship (the first one, not the new one), and you lack the steelen steel to reforge it with, nor do you have a fisharrman to steal from that you can spot.

You jump into the water and end up floating. Yarr pants of captain-saving be having too many piratical air bubbles in them to become a sea-wraith.
