Where can I see a material's raw ID?
« on: July 06, 2012, 11:23:55 am »

I found metals, gems, stones and all sorts of finished goods.

Where are the raws for stuff like wood or cloth?
I don't need to modify anything. I just need to know the raw ID of any yarn cloth.

1.   down load note pad ++
2.  open note pad ++
3. ctrl + shift + f
4.  ensure find in files is selected in the tab
5.  select the folder where your Dwarf fortress game is saved
6.  type in the search field "yarn"
7. search for yarn
8.  see search result, double click to open file

From the description of the event, I think that your copy of Dwarf Fortress was on drugs when this happened. That's surely the only logical explanation for a human werewolf with deadly farts dying from it's own excrement after slaughtering some goblins comrades.

Thanks. It found a bunch of stuff, but not the specific IDs. Just some interface strings, goblinese translations, announcement logs and other files I have no idea how to mess with.

My legendary mason got possessed and he wants cloth.
Showmood says he wants any yarn cloth and I don't have any shearable animal.
The caravan isn't coming anytime soon so I tried to use 'changeitem' on a pig tail cloth to turn it into yarn cloth.
But I need a specific material ID to put into DFhack.

Any other way around this?

The "material ID" of a type of yarn looks something like "CREATURE_MAT:SHEEP:HAIR".

I can't even find a weave reaction...
That's because it's hardcoded...

P.S. If you don't get this note, let me know and I'll write you another.
It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.

Thanks, it worked. I had to use the 'force' command to turn a pig tail thread into sheep yarn.
The guy just started on his construction.
EDIT: mudstone grate. Wish I'd let him die, asshole.
