That was exactly what I had in mind, but I'm waiting till we get a couple more people, since I probably wont be letting people join after we start the fort. So that I can keep track easier.

As far as I'm aware it's the same thing.

They are essentially the same thing, but the rules are a tiny bit different. You get one in-game year, and then you pass the fort to the next willing guy.
