Eradicating a Civilization?
« on: June 17, 2012, 02:03:19 pm »

I am six years into my current fortress, the year is 12. So far I had a number of goblin invasions, all repelled, but I am wondering if it is possible to actually kill-off an entire civilization? Will the goblins eventually bleed themselves dry from their invasions? Or will they have an infinite supply of meatsacks to throw at me?

YES.
It seems that you can embark as a near-dead civ with no settlements, After the first two migrant waves no more will come.
Simply kill your fort and the civ you embarked as should end.  :P

I demand that it be possible. Or at least make it so that they cant attack me full force every single time, give them a waiting period to rustle up a army, I'm sick of fighting a hughe goblin attack everytime, after a while I feel like i've killed every goblin in the world, and they still keep coming. And sieges every Single season is annoying, I got TRADES TO MAKE DAMNIT.

Yeah, but what about if you want those big sieges? It should be possible to provoke them.

Maybe in the next version it'll be possible to make peace with the goblins so they no longer send sieges. That way you don't have to turn off invaders (which is slightly cheaty, let's face it) to be able to have a long period without big sieges.

Sounds too easy. I hope they at least will demand a big tribute for that peace...

This is a side-effect of dwarven animal training (hit animal with hammer until it forgets that it hates you, then lovingly cuddle it).

In turn, if the goblins demanded alcohol, the Dwarves should have an option to declare a permanent "Grudge War" against the Goblins.

OK, I have to reload the save.
There was a bit of a problem regarding flashfreezing, a ballistae, and a barrel of dwarven ale. Gonna fix it up.
