You can say that again. I been working on the masterwork fort myself lately....hehe I sooo wanna test out the foutain of youth and see if it works in the mod :) You guys should try it out too.
I've never gotten the fountain of youth. Too hard to get a philosophers stone. I usually just stick to that dark church thingy. I love shadowmancers :)
Also who ever is next take your bloody go. You've a 6 hour notice then we're moving on!!
[EDIT] Just noticed a new version of the mod's been released. Should we port over to it, it should be compatable ;D

I like it but I can't think of a good design. I'm terrible at making things look nice (noble's housing) and everything ends up looking like big rectangles.
Rectangles are good think of all the good things that are rectangles. Monitors, books, doors all rectangles. You know who wasn't a rectangle? Hitler.

I think I'll release the circus in my go. Just for kicks ;) (Don't call my bluff, Haha I'm not that suicidal ~soliloquy)
Also i'm going to be in Spain for three weeks, and will be unable to play my turn. (Also this stupid board won't let me turn off italics...)

Started playing, wow this fort is such a mess! :D
I'm on my way to remove the major flaws.
I will post the yearly report in only one post, probably this sunday.

It was lovely and neat when I started. Orderly stockpiles and workshops and enough beds for everyone! Seems we're abit short on them at the moment and our dwarves fear the surface. Oh well. It's a community fort. Things are always bound to go wrong! (also I was being sarcastic about my turn being neat etc...) I'm sure you all did a wonderful job. It might have helped if I could keep a straight face while writing this though ;)

Spring : My arrival in Hills Of Rite was not properly welcomed, dwarves in this fortress are getting used to those leader changes and they don’t seem to care about it anymore.

Well, off to work! A quick examination of the fortress taught me a few things.
First, there's a few stairs carving to be done. Growers working on the east part of the dungeon have to use a staircase in the hospital, located on the west, to reach the kitchen stockpile! I ordered the construction of a new stair, directly linking the farms to the brewery. I also moved the kitchen upstairs, next to screw presses and quern.  Producing floor would be a good step toward a sustained lavish food production, but we do not have any cave wheat seed. I must remember to buy some if a caravan makes it to our depot.

Second point, the hospital is pretty much useless for the moment.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Sure the walls are made of smooth stone, but there’s not even a single splint to be used, and let's not speak about soap. No wonder why patients are left in beds, wounds open.  I decided to increase the room size and added some chests and cabinets to be filled with medical supplies. I also ordered the creation of lye from ashes, starting the soap industry.

And finally, I could notice some…strange acquisition in this fortress. I mean, look at this concubine ownership.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Child bearing is a useful talent toi have, right? I can’t imagine how she managed to acquire that, or maybe I could but I don't want to.
The end of Spring was also used to reorganize the stockpiles, all furniture piles are located near the workshops, and there's now a large pile for the prepared food, near the main dining hall.

Summer:
Alarm! Invaders! Hum…where? Oh that's 50 levels below…
Alarm! Invaders! Hum… where? In our farms?! Wasn't the fortress supposed to be airtight? What is this gigantic hole above the farm doing there! Who care about growing 10 steel trees when we have so much ore waiting to be mined down here!
2 Automatons riding giant howls are attacking our farmers, but luckily a swordgolem is keeping them busy while our melee militia is coming to the rescue.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Not even a wounded, thank you swordgolem! But still, this hole really needs to be sealed!

Meanwhile on the terrace, our marksdwarves are having fun:

A pretty shot striking the automatons mount.
The slade turret is doing a great job also, I really plan on adding more of this kind of thing.

 Migrants!
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Yeah, despite the danger, that is still 50 levels below, so who care? All migrants made it peacefully to our fortress, a whopping 23 dwarves wave! That will help our daily labors, because the previous fortress master focused so much on specializing our dwarves that when one goes on break, you generally end up with a job not done for a long while.
Regarding the hospital, it is now well furnished and the soap industry is working fine. Still no traction bench though, we have mechanisms but for an unknown reason, there’s no mechanics workshop built.

Our slade turret outside spot an ambush! A full band of goblins aim for ya throat lurking near our main gate. The bridge is quickly closed and, in anger, they destroy the slade turret with their long-range weapon then retire to the other side of the aqueduct. Our frontline defense really needs some improvements.
A few moment following that ambush:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Looks strong right? Well he decided to rush the goblins and died quickly from the thousands of bolts, but he had enough time to cast a few firebolts, igniting the whole area, burning to death the whole goblin band.

Now that the outside area is peaceful, I design a new moat, surrounding our terrace, adding a platinum bridge and a lot of turrets point behind fortifications, with an underground access to replace them when needed. That was quite a big workload and it was achieved later in autumn.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

That season ended with a nice artifact from Degel Muzishsarvesh, Metalcrafter:

Autumn: Autumn is there and the dwarven caravan is coming.
The liaison bring very good news, our fort is now the house of a baron! Well that will be…me!  I immediately order the carving of my quarters.
By the way, lets trade, huh? But…where is the caravan, and where is the depot! Under the gigantic pile of goodies cluttering our depot, there is nothing but spare stones. Something must have destroyed it.
I order a quick rebuild annnnd that's it, the caravan finally deposit the goods.  I'm trading barrels of lavish food at 7-9k dwarven bucks each for every kind of magma plans. I’m also demanding bags of seeds (cave wheat, quarry bushes, sweet pods) to boost our food standing. Masterfully cooked processed food can really buy a whole caravan, so why bother trading our beloved gold furniture.
Another artifact was built, a throne! Just in time to furnish my brand new throne room.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Winter is upon us! Well I can't feel the cold from my royal throne room!
Back in summer, I ordered our smelter to refine our coarse-iron into iron. We are now standing on a pile of more than 500 iron bars!  Other than that, I did not have the time to place the magma armory and weapon smith, nor relocating the bars stockpile. Dwarves have 50 levels to go between the stockpile and the magma forge…
I also designed a new set of bedrooms. Previous fortress masters had low standard, the new rooms are larger and they are quickly claimed by the dwarves.  I had to start a cloth industry for the many rock beds to be made. Nothing too hard since we were stockpiling pig tails for a while.
Lot of booze, good food, legendary dining room, decent quarters, many dwarves are happy!
It’s still winter, 17 of obsidian , but a drow caravan entered the region!
I let them in, quickly close the golden bridge.
-Why would you come so early? It's still winter!
 -Let's trade!
- You did not answe...
-Let's trade!
-Ok...
I traded prepared food once again for some insane amounts of dwarven bucks. They had some cave wheat and sweet pod seeds, our milling industry will start soon!
Spring 214 is there, time to retire for the moment. I heard steam sounds last night, I think some automatons were tracking that drow caravan... I will draw a quick plan of the lever setup for the next fortress master.
