Hello so lately i got back into playing this again. Anyway, as i am horrible at playing this game i will only play at Chieftain or Warlord.
Fall from Heaven is a mod for Civilization 4 turning the whole thing into a Fantasy Realm by the name of Erebus. The catch is that it's so to say a post-apocalyptic Fantasy World. The Gods waged war and the God of Winter killed his Opponent the God of Life/Nature. Which threw the whole world into a kind of Eternal Winter. With the help of most of the Gods the Godslayer was created and Mulcarn(God of Winter) was killed, basically warming the world up again. The whole War of the Gods, Eternal winter thing destroyed most Civilizations and the Gods decided to form the Compact. a Contract which prevents gods from directly intervening/sending their Angels and Archangels. However the use of Religious Fanatics as pawns is allowed and plays a massive Role in the Game. THe Evil Civilizations for example try to literally unleash hell on earth and can summon the four Horsemen of the Apocalypse as well as Hell itself...but i don't want to reveal too much...
Now to the next Point: Races,Races Races
I am fairly open to most suggestion but i would prefer if i could play one of the following:
Scions of Patria:The Scions are, complicated to say the least. I haven't completely understood their Fluff but apparently the God of Deception stole a whole bunch of Souls from the Afterlife and tucked them away in a pocket Dimension. They are led by the Emperor which gained Access to the real world and slowly but surely sneaks the Souls from the Dimension into Erebus.
The Scions are some kind of Undead Roman Empire. The interesting thing about them is that they don't need Food for new Population but have to provide interesting stuff for the Dead so that they awake from their Eternal Slumber and move their lazy asses back into an Undead Life. I pretty much like the decadent Undead thing and especially that the Scions don't need to do direct warfare. The Landscape surrounding their cities turns slowly but surely into massive Haunted Forests which make Invaders crazy, kills them or does even worse stuff with them. Their whole concept is rather built on building few massive cities with ridiculous amounts of Culture and Haunted Forests and then slowly encroach on the Neighbours with Units that negate the Other Players Culture and turns their Terrain into the Equivalent of a Forest crossed with !!FUN!!. The Scions are however very slow to develop and are really a Late Game Civ.
BannorThe Bannor. Imagine your obligatory Religious Theocratical Empire. They are of course followers of the God of Light and Goodishness ( at least Fluffwise). Gamewise they are Crusaders and highly Militarized. The Bannor are completely geared for War. They even have Civics like "Crusade" that only they can access and give them ridonculous amounts of Fanatical Soldiers. However their true power comes rather in the late Game
Remember the Scions? Where they worked with sentient people which they brought voluntarily back to life, the D'tesh summon huge amounts of your standard faceless Skeleton Army. They reallly have nothing interesting to offer Militarily seen apart from Starting Skeleton, Level 2 Skeleton, Skeleton Mage etc.
So what makes them interesting? Well the D'teshi aim to destroy all life and they do so quite awesome. Every piece of Land they can grab slowly turns into unusable lifeless Wastelands. ANd where the Scions got their population from Volunteers the D'tesh rely on massive amounts of Slaves which work as Population,Food, Sacrifical Good and as Workforce of course. The point is that one that you make a war against you the most unwanted thing ever, as people who march into your lands have to deal with Ambush attacks from invisible skeleton Hordes, then fight against your on Defense specialized Troops and when they finally get the City, they have conquered a patch of Stone on a massive surrounding patch of Wasteland. It's not even a Desert it's even worse then that.
Similiar to D'tesh they rely on Slaves. However the Slaves are needed to produce the Workers and the Armies. They are turned into mindless hulks which are useless. Then why bother? Well, if you build a Controller for those things and somebody to "augment" them, they turn into friggin killing machines and industrious workers the likes of which have never been seen. I have played them only once and failed horribly but the concept sounds really awesome. Did I mention that the other half of their Army consists of Slave Hunters and Gladiators? And did i mention the Gladiator Fights?
The Malakim are the other "Light" people. Though rather on the Edge of Sun and Deserts. They have the habit of converting their lands into Deserts from which they gain bonuses. THey have an Egyptian/African Setting. Well i never played them, but the Desert thingy sounds fun...
Kuriotates. Well i can't really explain them properly. They are led by a little boy, who gets controlled by a massive Golden Dragon who somehow managed to break the Compact. The Dragon however is sitll locked away in his Pocket Dimension but his basic premise is to build a sprawling empire open the rift and then become a living God King. the interesting Concept about them is that they can create bigger cities then anybody else. Their Cities can have a 3-plot radius. However they can create only a limited amount of them, after that they have to build settlements, in which nothing can be built nor produced but can be used to increase the Countries Borders. Well they are one of the three Multicultural Civilizations out there, consisting mainly of Rat-People,Centaurs and Humans but apparently taking in anybody they can find...
Think an Evil Rohan. They are Raiders and Mercs and of course have massive Cavalry. I just like them becaus you can annoy other players by rushing into their lands destroying all their improvements and return to your lands before they can react. Not really good for City Conquering but Fun Nonetheless...
Never played them but apparently Humanoid Hamsters turned into the Fuzzy Overlords of Elves...sounds...!!FUN!!
They are the second of the Three Multi-Cultis. They are Atheist or Misotheists which have enough of the quarrels of the Gods and decided to fight for themselves. The Concept of them is that they are the Adventurer Nation. They built Armies of Random Heroes to fight their wars...again not played very often
The "Scientist"-Nation. A Nation of Thinkers and Inventors, have never played them as their military has apparently some extreme Micromanagement to them...but willing to try them out.
The Infernals are the Demons. Although the Compact forbade the entering of any of the warring parties, Hyborem somehow managed to find a loophole and get in. They are literally a Mid-Game Faction as they cannot enter the Game the Normal Way, a normal player has to summon them and must decide to play as them. Once they spawned Shit begins to Hit the Fan. They are really good at increasing the Armageddon Counter ( don't wan't to ruin HFS so that's to that). They don't need food and get more Population by the killing of "Evil" people or followers of the Ashen Veil. In the late Game even Neutral People may end up in one of their Cities. Your Classical run of the Mill Demons in all other Aspects but with some real nice HFS...if you decide that i should play them i will first start with Sheaim ( the Prime Suspects for summoning them) and then Change to them as soon as they are summoned
Where Hyborem acts on behalf on his God, The Mercurians and Basium are rouge Good Angels. They deserted from the Ranks of their Gods to fight the Demons and help the humans regarless of Compact. Similiar to the Infernals you need to use a loophole to get them into the Game. I have never played them so no idea about HFS and in what they are good or not. But i suspect that they are the Counterweight to the Infernals.
The Third and Final summonable Nation. the Frozen are the remains of Mulcarns Armies and await for a new God of Ice to take over. However unlike the Mercurians and the Infernals which stand on good terms with their Summoners, the Frozen will turn against the Nation who has brought them into the Game. The joke being that the Archangel of Mulcarn rejects the one who wants to take over for him namely: Auric Ulvin and his Illians. This leads to a new Goal: creating another God of Ice...in this case the Archangel himself takes the burden upon him
