Prayer vigil went well today, that and I think I have an idea of her injuries so far:

-Brain injuries (these are the worst injuries, but it hasn't killed her, and she is able to move all of her appendages, so yay.
-Broken collar bone
-Several fractured bones in the back of her skull
-Broken/Fractured sternum
-Torn ACL
-Possible hip injuries

She's having a healing day today, so maybe tomorrow me and some friends will visit. I'll try to keep the visits down for now because she's in a trauma center, which isn't really suited for people to visit.

Well, here's hoping your friend has a better doctor than Urist McSurgeon.

I'm sorry to hear about your friend. I hope she fully recovers from her injuries and that everything turns out okay.

Brain injuries are one of those things where it tends to be all or nothing, so if she's cognizant and mobile it is a very good sign. Bones and ligaments can be repaired, so don't stress over that.

Well, you know what they say about what doesn't kill you...

That was so rude to say here, it really is not funny to try to troll threads about real tragedies.
Also, im atheist but i wish her to recover as fast as she can.

Brain injuries are one of those things where it tends to be all or nothing,
...or appears to be nothing but ends up being a problem, but I somehow doubt that now she's under treatment it'll be that case (if any signs appear, it'll be swooped upon and whatever needs to be done will be done immediately), and that usually is relevant only to those that hit their heads, thought they were Ok and eschewed treatment and then some time later get problems...

So, pedantry aside, I'm sure they're doing all they can, which means it'll be as good a result as you could expect.  (Also atheistic/agnostic/apatheist, here, so my best wishes for the outcome are what you'll be hearing from me, over the aether.  Any actual God worth his pillar-of-salt should be willing to treat that as a prayer, though, and Pascal-be-damned[1].
(Please put any disagreements to my philosophy might in another thread, and/or PM me to tell me where I'm wrong.  I'm just explaining myself, not wanting to derail things!))

"We can repair her... We have the technology!".

(Yeah, I know, but I just felt the need for a mood-lightner, after all the contemplation.  A positive attitude in front of a patient is also pretty efficacious in aiding recovery.  Well, when added to whatever healthcare is essential.  When you do get to visit, even if they're not apparently conscious, be as upbeat as you feel you can be. They may actually be listening, or at least absorbing the general mood and internally reacting to it, so a little positivity can help.)

[1] For trying to cynically play the system...

[3] Albeit that those that need to go to hospital might be somewhat self-selecting to be the more fragile-looking ones, and there's a 20yo in his current ward who looks like he could be 30-40...

[4] Ironic, I suppose, that with both me and him being atheistic, I'm happy with what are essentially 'silent prayers' by another name.  Do what you think, though.

Brain injuries can be a whole lot more subtle than that. See: Professional boxers over time.

I know someone who was in a motorcycle accident and wasn't wearing a helmet (huge mistake on his part), and hit his head pretty bad. For a while, he couldn't think straight or remember things well, and for a long time after that he was prone to seizures and you could generally tell the gears in his head were turning just a bit slower than they used to. He's recovered completely or almost completely since then, though. Point being, it's hard to really tell what's going to happen with head injuries like that, I don't think.

Professional boxers and football players are receiving a different kind of damage than car crash victims, though. The former is lots of tiny and mitigated injuries over a large time period, where as the latter could be any level of injury in a short-term, one time event.

NHS FTW!  No complaints here about our apparently 'broken' healthcare system.
reminds me of the American magazine that said had Stephen Hawking been British, he would have suffered at the hands of the NHS.

problem is, Stephen Hawking IS British, and says he owes his life to the NHS.

She had an allergic reaction today with some medicine. Luckily she's still doing okay.

A few things:

She has a contusion on her heart. Apparently it is only a bruise, which is good considering what it could be.

The only thing she requires further surgery for is her knee, so yay.

She's fully cognizant, and got mad when her mom was fussing around with her hair.

This is all very good news.
