I remastered the dwarf fortress theme (Polished it up essentially, removed buzz, etc.). Still the Original recording, just with a great deal of semi-professional enhancement.

To play with DF, you could use an online converter to convert it back into the Ogg format. Should already be in .Ogg format

This one's smoother too. It sounds less sharp and a little dimmer.


I haven't listened to the theme in ages, since I usually play my own music instead. This brings back memories of one of my first fortresses, back when I was using the phoebus tileset. I like it!

It's nothing new, it's basically a clean up, sense of space, added stereo information, better dynamics, etc.

It's not a cover, or a re-imagining, just a improved quality replacement that would replace the regular one without any major complaints.

I can't make Toady One sound like John Williams in a nice sounding concert hall with good microphones and audio engineers, but I can sure as hell try!

Also, sorry it wasn't downloadable, the buttons confused me, it's downloadable now I believe.

Going forward you might want to use a little less reverb in the really dense sections, because it does make it sound a little muddy to me. Don't redo it from scratch on my account, but it's really easy to lose some of the nice characteristics of an acoustic guitar when you do a lot of processing. Though to be fair, I haven't listened to the original in a little bit, so I don't know if there was much in the way of rich harmonic content to begin with. Hmm...
