ok im a little confused about the diagram on the wiki page
diagram 2 showing the stacked screw pumps looks like it has a missing floor tile under each of the front(the part with the arrowhead) parts and im assuming that is to transfer power to the pump underneath and so if thats right then that means that every floor with a screw pump needs alternating floor tile/no floor tile for the pumps right?  
ok then my second question is where should the center piece under the windmill go? over the front or over the back part of the screw pump?

Personally, I'd recommend waterwheels, but I think you can hook up whatever power source of your choice to either of the two parts of the pump. They both have worked for me so far.
