Source Filmmaker problem
« on: July 10, 2012, 09:40:06 pm »

So, I decided to try my hand at Valve's recently released Source Filmmaker, and it all seemed to work perfectly fine until I tried to spawn in a player/actor. For whatever reason, it just doesn't spawn me into the game when I press F11. Is anyone else having this problem, and how do you fix it?

I can't help you, but I'll post my filmmaker related issue to whore in on your thread.  I got the invite in a popup, but I can't find it now that I've closed it.

I don't think you need an invite anymore, I got it on Steam.

Ah, so I'd just need to find it in the steam store.  bueno. Not that I'll use it.  ANYWAY!  How about the OP's problem?

There's certain game mode maps you can't load into still, such as arena maps.

What, maps that are exclusively arena, or ones that can be played with multiple game modes?

Look at whatever the prefix of the map is. If it says arena, nope.

Try opening like 2fort or dustbowl and see if you get the same issue.

Well, that fixes it. Feel free to post any other problems you're having if you don't feel like making your own thread.

Welp, I can't figure out how to do effects in sfm.

Bloodsplats, explosions, glitter, so on.

Every dwarf, every dwarven man, women, and child, that comes to our forts will die there; it's truly sad when you think about it. And we ask our selves, why? Why do we push forward, knowing this fate, that we are destined for failure? Because, this game grasps the concept of mortality. Some games you can never lose, but we all stop eventually, causing a 'death' to those game's 'worlds'. Dwarf Fortress gives us a definite end, knowing that we will leave that world eventually, and move on to more.
