Normally I don't use Tilesets but I think I'll take this for a spin.
(So nostalgic. It reminds me of when I was a kid.)

This is a side-effect of dwarven animal training (hit animal with hammer until it forgets that it hates you, then lovingly cuddle it).

that must be true, because i'm not seeing any open space there
Yeah, that's a flat meadow, but the red sand hallway has maze-like channels in it. If you can tell the difference between those tiles you win a gold star cookie.
up\down symetry! open space lacks it

I'm tempted to do little 16x16 graphics except that's a really small size to be doing any Artistic Working in. I'll try out making tiles for each dwarven profession :D

Hell, go for it.

This is one of the few tilesets that works as a middle ground between mainly ASCII users and tileset users, as in both can use them and still be familiar with what represents what and without complaining about it not being "vanilla" or "pretty" enough.
Even I, who are mostly restricted to using artful tilesets due to me being nearly blind as a bat, could use this fine without wanting to gut my eye-sockets with a spoon. :)

So, I'm done all non-military jobs. (I really hope that it's professions that make tiles instead of overall categories like Farming because otherwise I'll be very angry)

Doodle 6x6

A 6x6 tileset loosely based on my own handwriting. The letters are hard to read but it has a fun whimsical flavor (I hope). Overall it's 96x96.
I like this one, I've been looking for a 8x8 or less tile set a long time now, but its really hard to find and I'm crap at doing them myself.

This is great!  I'm a fan of graphics tilesets, but this is awfully tempting.  "Whimsical" is definitely the way to describe this one.

I use graphic sets only because I like to actually see when a raging titan is coming to rip my face off and not another ` in the field.

ARE YOU ALL HAPPY YET

So now I need to work on actually making the graphics set which has proven slightly difficult. But I'm making progress! (Try to find the Thief profession, it's a highly clever reference.)

i'd prefer if the dwarves were colored like vanilla graphics: woodcrafters in yellow, craftsdwarves in blue, etc.

They're set to get coloured in by the game.
