Scale for that image? I want to know just how far everything flew.
According to the source, the heat shield is 1.2km from Curiosity. So that black char-mark for the sky-crane is about 100 meters long.

For just a minute, that heat shield was probably the most intense frisbee ever. I wish we had more footage of it falling.

Orbital drop frisbee would be sufficiently excessive and wasteful for a future!sport par excellence... probably would involve supersonic high atmosphere surfboards and some kind of two stage rocket you'd snap on the frisbee to get it out and in, in a timely manner.

It's known as the Oppai-Kaiju effect. The islands of Japan generate a sort anti-gravity field, which allows breasts to behave as if in microgravity. It's also what allows Godzilla and friends to become 50 stories tall, and lets ninjas run up the side of a skyscraper.

The stars probably materialized on the side of his head after the cosmos witnessed our off-the-wall-crazy mars landing. You see, everyone elses heads were too well covered in hair to see them. And the bald people just struck out.

It's weird how much the surface of Mars just looks like a dusty red desert... I suppose that's because at the end of the day that's all it is.

I've seen places on Earth that look shockingly similar to Mars. It really is strange how not different Mars is from Earth.

It's interesting to think how all that red sand is caused by millions of years of low atmosphere winds. Makes for a very zen thought.

Ahhhh, naturally. They just couldn't quite manage to send a robot to Mars without placing a death cannon on board. :P
