The new wiring system is the big deal (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p5FFfolqpRQ), but here's the full changelog:

Quote
Version 0.1.5 alpha (6.1.2013)

- added Cooling
- removed camera movement during screenshots procedure
- added Outer Hatches for Storage, Hangar, Cannons, Missiles, Cooling Units
- added Exit Hatch
- switch between Fullscreen and Windowed is possible
- extended Message Box
- Message Box and Objective are now both minimizable, instead of "see-through"
- added "Objectives Completed" Message and Design Points System
- added new Design Contract Missions "Small Attack Vessel" and "Missile Corvette"
- removed (very annoying) error, where it could happen, that you wanted to delete a hatch and deleted an adjoining room as well
- added new Room "Water Treatment" in preparation of the Water/Air/Fuel Pipe System
- reduced the number of crew needed and the number of crew for each quarters?
- changed the "Relay" into a "Power Switch" to turn off/on entire circuits
- added "Connection Rooms" for Power and Cooling to transfer to different decks
- added new Music Tracks and randomized playback
- fixed a door placement error
- fixed "missing Water supply" message
- fixed "missing Galley" and "missing Sickbay" messages
- fixed level balancing and (hopefully) clarifed the different types of crew need
- fixed a few "hatches can be placed inside rooms" issues
- added Save and Save As... function
- fixed Broken Screen when cancelling Load
- removed hull fragments
- added room category tab selection
- changed level-up and level-down selection to icon selection in the build menu
- removed Space as a shortcut for OK in the "Exit to Mainmenu" - Warning to avoid accidental Exit without Saving
- added Rollover Help for Messages and Objectives

It's a pretty decent chunk of content.  Surprisingly understated is the ability to build warships now.  Also unstated is that there's a example cargoship you can now load up as a design, so you're not completely clueless anymore.  Also, the ambient music and sound is shockingly nice.

The next phase is plumbing, which I'm oddly enthused about.  Still a very difficult game, but luckily I dig that kind of complexity.

I'm PTW, not even sure I want this game but I'm curious.

Designing a ship is nice but it would be even nicer if we can see crew walking and the location of areas mattering a la FTL :)

You will be able to in the full game. He's shown some demo clips of that, but the alpha is mostly focused on the ship builder.

Wiring/plumbing: Currently it's not too big of a deal since you don't have to try to route one past the other. It probably becomes more of a deal when your ships can go into battle and a lucky strike severs the main coolant trunk keeping your cannons operational. :)

Design specs: Yes, though not perfectly, the ship just isn't big enough to have a galley and medical bay. (As in, the objects won't fit in with everything that IS required.)

My experience is that it's essentially the same as before.   There's a lot more junk that needs to go on the ships, but the crewing has been 'fixed'.

I could get the gunship going with no errors, but I'm pretty sure all the rest are impossible.

I think I might be able to do the troop transport and cargo ship done if I had flexible sized air and water storage.

PTW, always been interested in this but I'm tired of only seeing updates when I decide to check. I love me some custom designing.

Confused spambot maybe?  Developed sentience and has realized the WOW gold crap doesnt make any money so he is branching out in a childish AI way?  Good work buddy, you keep rocking on.

WoW gold places do make money, it just takes a surprising amount of scale to do it.

Thread Necromancy, I just got the update email from David via IndieGoGo.

Quote
Happy Anniversary!

The Development of Starship Corporation is past its first year, and I want to thank you, my dear investors, for your support and patience.

SSC has made quite some progress, some of it visible (and playable) and some of it behind the scenes. The next major milestone – additional Crew Management Missions that deal with collision, destruction, air pressure, hull breaches, fire and death will soon be completed.

The addition of the power and cooling grid has increased development time, but I hope you agree that it was worth it. The performance issues on slower machines as well as gameplay improvements will be fixed with the next update.

The game is doing well on Steam (currently place 9 of  1428!) and it will be published on Desura in a few days! http://www.desura.com/games/starship-corporation

If you want to know more details about the games´ progress, please visit the “Updates” thread in the forum: http://www.starshipcorporation.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=18

Thank you for your support!

David.

Is the game actually working then?  Last I knew, the playable version had goals you couldn't actually accomplish, and then all discussion died.

I haven't actually touched it yet beyond getting the post. It sounds like a new release is probably coming but the last was in June.

Woops, responded to discussion that was on page 1.

Is this still not done yet? I assume he gave up on GameMaker or it would be finished.

It's still nowhere near being done. A new incremental build comes out every few months, but it's very obvious that this isn't his primary focus.
