Announcement history clearing every day?

I've got a ten-year old fort going, and out of the blue the announcement log has started clearing every day, making it nigh useless. Any idea how this can happen or whether it can be fixed?

Quietust:
As I recall, there's a hard limit of 3000 announcements, and Combat reports count toward that limit. By any chance do you have a lot of combat, hunting, or sparring going on?

That would totally be it, then. I just drafted 50 non-combat dwarves to stand in the danger room for one month, just to keep them on their toes. Thanks!
