For example, I've currently got a small heap or recruits and would love a quicker way to see if any have any experience in the tailoring skill (I don't want to hire illegals and risk deportation).

Perhaps some sort of... LCS Therapist?

can't you see their skills when meeting with them and children and slaves are only good for earning you money .

and LCS therapist would be cool .
