But that's (By Dwarf Fortress standards) far too mundane.

I like having fully sealed forts, so I tend to drain from a high aquifer into a low aquifer.  Boiling it off at the bottom instead is an interesting idea if I lack a low aquifer.

eh, waterwheels aren't as fun as constructing a geothermal reactor.
