Assault Rifles

I was looking at the Wiki, and I looked at the weapons section, and the AK-47 and M16 looked like they had the exact same stats, so whats the difference?

I would say the difference is that with two types of assault rifles, you don't have russians running around with american guns, and vice versa.

I guess you're right, it wouldn't make sense that American Soldiers would raid you using AK-47s. Also, what are things like X-46 Military lasers or whatever they're called? I was looking through the XML and it said that under one of the assault rifles.

X-46 Military lasers (or whatever) are part of an easter egg for if you manage to get the game to run for 100 years or so without a game over or victory. In the far future, many things in the game get reskinned to look futuristic in cheesy stereotypical ways. So you might be stealing hovercars and picking up vibro-axes from firefighters that you gunned down with your plasma rifle -- but everything plays exactly the same, just with new names.

Ok, one last question, do guns only turn into Lasers when stuff like Gun Laws and Military are C+, or does it happen regardless?

It's just a matter of the date; the laws don't matter when it comes to reskinning things to be high tech.
