Thank you, Toady, for this amazing game. Screw graphics; DF was the first thing I ever saw in ASCII, and it turned my perspective on game quality completely around.

Indeed. DF wouldn't be DF with graphics. All hail the Uni-Toad!

To the great toad, may you ....
be showered with buxom nymphomaniacs who adore you. You deserve it sir

Only AFTER he finishes making the game and only if he wants it; isn't he married?

*Sips glass of tea* Gentlemen, what kind of thread would this be without the kobold? Just dropped into this thread to say thank you to ToadyOne. Ironically, games rot your brain-but DF has certainly been a positive influence, it got me interested in reading history due to the amount of depth in this game and the forums have given me quite a few smiles. My own family has a hard time getting me to smile without stroking my ego. Not even to mention the simply wonderful fanbase, mature as hell and certainly entertaining to watch the very rare fights.

TL;DR: ToadyOne, I salute you.

A salute to Toady and the game he has created. I'll have to raise an army and march it to the pacific northwest to fire 21 shots!

We need to crown Toady with some kind of code-crown.

But anyway, ALL HAIL TOADY, LORD OF THE CODE!

Thank you for the best game I've ever played.  The amount of awesome put into a single free game never ceases to amaze me.

I was playing DF a couple of weeks ago and it suddenly struck me -- how many other games can you think of that have inspired the sheer quantity not to mention overwhelming quality of fan-submitted stories about things that have happened during their game?  I can't think of a single one outside of DF.

In the NY Times interview, I got the impression that, to a certain degree, Toady and Threetoe were into story-making more than game-playing.

So I believe DF can already be considered a success beyond anyone's wildest imagination.   And it can only get better.

To Toady and Threetoe - May your glasses be ever full. May the roofs over your head be always strong. And may you be in heaven half an hour before the devil knows you're dead.

I don't understand, though that is about right with anything DF related.

Thank you Tarn and Zach Adams.  Your work has been an inspiration for me, and for many others.  When I have coder's block, I simply fire up Dwarf Fortress and get those neurons firing again, (lately by working on my Perl launcher/mod tool).  I've also started a little bit of creative writing again.  I haven't really done that since high school.

I think 12 would be more appropriate.
And you need to be near a Bay.

This is a side-effect of dwarven animal training (hit animal with hammer until it forgets that it hates you, then lovingly cuddle it).

Dwarf Fortress is truely a tale to behold.
I personally hate people who delete there worlds without trying them.
Look at Captnduck, his newest episode is about a hero randomly generated in Dwarf Fortress.
He was married to the queen.
He fought in wars, every war.
He turned into a vampire and killed over 10000 elves, goblins and humans.
Its truely amazing what can behold in dwarf fortress.
No words can explain my thanks for making my time well spent.

Would we get in trouble if we report this to them?
Dose he read it or just ban it?
