Modest Bodies - Joints, joints EVERYWHERE!

Modest Bodies is a 'patch'-styled mod based off Modest Mod 2.0 and is designed to plug into it, but should also plug into vanilla DF just fine. Currently (34.11), only humanoids have joints in vanilla DF. Modest Bodies adds joints and renames body parts (where appropriate).

I haven't tested the bodies of cavern-creatures yet, but they look correct on the outset so let me now if you run into weird body issues with those.

Thanks for the kind words. It's still a little choppy (I started a bit on animal men then realized I hated them all) and I've recently read about the reworked creature raws that VBASE uses which sounds useful, so if I'm feeling adventurous I might rewrite all the creature raws to use that instead - but it'll probably be a much larger project. This is still somewhat small and modest in comparison.

EDIT: To be more useful about incorporating this into your mods - the essence of what I did was to replicate the humanoid joint structure for quadrupeds and other piecemeal parts (things that stood on 4 arms, 2 arms, no arms, etc.) and add that version of the joints to every creature, with just some variation for things like hoofed quadrupeds (hock joints, stifle joints). It's easy peasy, just rather tedious to do for each creature.

Joints are a part, not a material/tissue. So basically what this mod is doing is adding a new body part to every single quadruped and other body type without joints currently.

Note: Rather then adding a new body part ot each creature, it might be easier to simply include the relevant joints in the QUADRUPED, etc. body parts so they are automatically applied to every creature with that body type. Not the most rigorous or flexible, but it would certainly be faster to apply to a new set of raws.

I was thinking about that - but I am still not too familiar with body parts and their relation to each other yet, so I went with the easy-but-tedious method.

I did try something early in the mod with 3-part quadruped limbs instead of 2-part, but it caused a cascading series of weird limb bugs that I wasn't sure how to deal with, so I scrapped that. I'll revisit that though - if it's not too hard, you might only have to change body_default.txt instead of every single creature raw.

v1.1 is done and 1000% more modest! Now, joints are added entirely through the body_defaults file. This ensures that the moment you have a body type, you get the corresponding joints. One advantage of this is that previously-unjointed humanoids like beak dogs and kangaroos are now automatically jointed.

It might prove useful to a certain creature I'm modding.

It's a must have. Reminds me to add quadruped joints and bird joints to Genesis ASAP. It used to be a top priority change in Genesis 2 and Genesis 3. I'm not sure why I postponed it so much for Genesis 4 :).
