...I don't think there's enough fat in a giant sperm whale to do that, you'd need to have your Starting Seven make soap 48 hours a day minimum to turn that fat into soap before the whale rotted assuming a sufficient lye supply...

Didn't say it ALL had to come from the original whale.  After the first season, you should be able to set up a handy semi-submerged whaling pen to keep stocks going.

It weighs four times more than a regular RL sperm whale, thus, it's 1.58 times longer, amounting to 31.6 metres long.

By the first season, the whale should have mostly rotted...still a good idea, just needs work.

So, megaproject idea:

Year one, embark on seaside biome, set up whaleing operations (future domestication optional).
Begin making as much whale tallow soap as possible.

Land based fortress should be absolutely minimal, disposable, and mostly surface based.

Year two, begin making whale tallow soap fortress, shaped like a whale, out of whale tallow soap, that extends far into the ocean.  Bonus points if it is only supported by a whale tallow soap pillar into the sea, and access to land is by a single draw bridge.
