3089 Kickstart.
« on: September 30, 2012, 08:13:50 am »

Hey there everyone , Alex here once again with some pretty neat news. Jeremy (Phr00t), the creator of 3079, has just launched a kickstart for his upcoming game 3089!

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/134798252/3089-action-rpg

It'll come with a myriad of new features, and he is very serious about getting it done, so serious in fact, that the projected estimate is ONLY 1 k dollars!

Why is he doing this? To prove that with or without help he will make the best game he can. The money will be destined to making the game better of course, but there are so many flakey projects out there that either aren't forthcoming with the money, or simply don't commit in the long run that he's decided to adjust the budget without hurting the quality.

Oh, did I mention that it ISN'T blocky anymore??

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

This doesn't mean that work on 3079 or Genetrive 2 has stopped, however. It means they will both be in maintenence mode, recieving regular updates and occasional content patches.

I'll update the post when it comes out, but feel free to show your support and chime in on what you want 3089 to ultimately be!

-Alex

Why does the thread title look so much like a korean spam bot?

This is very exciting and Jeremy is really becoming a great programmer. I will be supporting this for sure!

you may want to use [img] tags. Its annoying to have to download an image first.

3079 hasn't even been out for that long, and now a sequel is coming out?
Mixed feelings commence.

3079 has been stable for awhile. At any rate, many of the things i'd like to see for the 30x9 series requires fundamental changes from 3079, so a new game has to be made.

Thank you hemmingjay, I really appreciate it!

I hope he's still going to add new content to G2 once in a while.

I'm going to be releasing an update in the next day or two to bring Gentrieve 2 out of Beta, and then it will enter "maintenance" mode like 3079.

Looking forward to seeing this, though I'll probably stick with 3079 for the time being.

It's also very short, so I'll not be supporting the kickstarter.

There are lots of details I go into about what I am planning for 3089, like customizable weapons based on parts and quests based on procedurally generated parts (instead of one quest type) - things that are not really possible in 3079.

Mixed feelings commence.

3089 will be a completely new game, so please don't let perceived shortcomings of 3079 make your decision for a game that is still in early development.

EXCELLENT news!  ;D

I am short on money (a common excuse these days, eh?) but I'll manage to scrap something up. I really wish to support this project.  :)

Can't wait for more info!

edit: and here actually ARE some more info, thanks to ninja phroot. :D
Thanks.

I would also like to point out that Phroot has been very responsive to suggestions and criticisms from this community, which is reason to at least waiting to see the Kickstarter campaign before deciding if you will back it or not. I would hope anyway! Besides, we don't have much info on how much he is trying to raise or the levels of backing that will be available.

Many of us backed the ambitious project by Lord Dullard and he is an unproven developer who is struggling(for justifiable reasons!) with executing his vision. We support our community around here with $, positivity or constructive criticism/advice!

Hoping the world will be a bit more..coherent. Everything always feels so disjointed in 3079, like none of it was meant to be in the same game.
