Entity with [MEGABEAST] tag
« on: October 10, 2012, 11:11:26 pm »

Basically I'm wondering if throwing the [MEGABEAST] tag into a creature thats part of a civ will circumvent the whole Megabeast Worldgen Immunity thing I.E. Make it possible for Dwarves/humans/elves to actually kill things in worldgen.

I'm not sure if I understand correctly. Megabeasts get killed in world gen all the time.

By other Megabeasts, yes. What he wants to know is if he can have civs decimate megabeasts by turning them into megabeasts too.

It is the civs that do the killing already. Megabeasts do not fight each other outside demon/megabeast fights. I just checked a vanilla world, and a hydra was killed by an elf, and a roc by a dwarf.

AFAIK it's been like that since 40d. IIRC civilizations with the [BEAST_HUNTER] token will send out adventurers that will "duel" megabeasts, potentially killing them.

It would be brutally difficult and probably won't work. In other words, it's absolutely dwarven!

Huh then why do I keep hearing about the megabeast immunity? Does it work on a smaller scale now? I.E. instead of always losing to a megabeast they now only have 99% chance of losing?

It's probably one of those myths with enough truth in it to keep it going. Megabeasts are kinda tough.

That explains why it wasn't under Contractual Boss Immunity! Thanks, Trope-Ninja!
