Is there even a point to gnomeblight?
« on: October 12, 2012, 09:14:03 pm »

Is there even the slightest point to gnomeblight???

I mean hypothetically it could kill gnomes but seeing as I've... basically never seen one I don't... see what the point of it being there is.

You can kill Gnomes with it.

Sounds like you're going to have to whip out the old perpetual-motion engines: HFS-powered hamster wheels.

You can kill Gnomes with it.

That would require gnomes ever showing up.

They do in good or evil mountains.

You can trade it away.

Yeah, its a trade good. What is the purpose of toys? To lob at goblins, but you see my point. Besides, you could pour it on a floor, and watch as they dissolve.

It's fun to kill gnomes with. I wish there were more ways to use gnomeblight and other various poisons. Like deterring rodents without fucking cats.

Er, you can just pasture them, y'know....
Counterpoint: eat them and slather your food in poison.

But....

You could mod in Rat poison! I hope. Well you could mod in some chemical warfare elements. There really aren't any mods that address that.

Not really. Rats aren't normal creatures.

Not really. Rats aren't normal creatures.
But, I could still make goblin Poison warfare.

If you can't think of a way to weaponize something, you haven't been playing Dwarf Fortress long enough, or aren't thinking hard enough.

Drop it on someone (that works now!)
Use it as ammunition in the dwarven auto-shotgun.
Use it as bait. It is worth ☼1000, after all...
Trade it away, if you didn't seize it from the elves...
Does it light on fire? Things that light on fire are useful for spreading fires.
Does it extinguish fires? Drop it on magma imps.
Use it to test the physics engine when you need worthless crap to throw. I hear the range of bridge-a-pults is highly variable...
If it's not harmful to Dwarves, lather them up in it if you feel voyeuristic... or if you think your Dwarves are into that.
If it is harmful to Dwarves, it would be a shame if it was your needy-as-hell Baron who found out the hard way...
Need your minecarts to weigh more so that Goblin Frogger is funner? Fill them up with liquids. Although magma would probably be ‼funner‼

What about an anti-gnome squadron with wrestlers covered in gnomeblight?

Mod in dark gnomes as thieves, like kobolds but with armor!
Make mountain gnomes traders, sotta elfy yet vaguely dwarfy.
