He wants a door in his bedroom
« on: October 12, 2012, 10:00:00 pm »

And apparently replacing the mayor's current door doesn't count. I'm effectively gonna have to just place the door to randomly sit in his room, aren't I? It's not like I'd want it to make sense or anything.

Go to the door(s) on his bedroom in the q screen and mark them as "internal," then expand the room to include the doors.

Alternatively make a platinum door or something and stick it randomly in the middle of the room, then mark that as internal.

My point is, doors aren't counted as part of a room unless they are marked as "internal" in the q screen.

I think that's a little more impossible than I'm likely to have time for.

Whenever a noble requests a door I dig a little niche on the side of his room and close it off with the desired door set to internal.
That niche is the noble's assisted suicide chamber, should I ever need or want to use it (I often do).

Uhm... next time a noble deep inside a mountain requests a clear glass window a 1-tile niche and have it engraved, then have the window close it up. And then hang the whole room over magma.

The guy obviously wants a walk-in wardrobe or a personal bathroom.

I just realized two things. 1. For the Win and F___ the World have the same initials. 2. They have the same meaning in Dwarf Fortress.

Though maybe that's the issue. The concept is just too simple for the dwarven mind to grasp!

I think your mayor is bored, and wants to make a bunch of "Knock Knock" jokes.

Sounds like a Count I had who wanted a window.  Not a window looking out onto anything, or even in a wall between his room.  Just a window.  Build on the middle of his bedroom floor.  That made him happy................

what is with the derailment of this topic?

Maybe your mayor just likes doors and wants one to look at? make it out of platinum so he'll be ultra happy and die from being too happy.

Dear Urist McStockpileDrone
I just found a barrel which contained a wheelbarrow. Inside the wheelbarrow was another barrel. I don't even understand how that is possible.
