Toady has also threatened to add in procedurally generated poetry.

Procedurally generated poetry...

Dear god, that's horrific to even think about.

An in-DF book would probably read surprisingly much like the Old Testament.

Urist was wearing emerald dyed pigtail fibre socks, a troll fur hood, a giant cave spider silk loincloth.  He was cold, he was happy, he was wet, he had spoken with a good friend recently. A forgotten beast appeared, it was made of glass, it breathed fire, it was undulating. Urist detested rabbits.

And that's without saying who's whose father.

I imagine the first pass will read a lot like legends mode, maybe organized in a more coherent way. Maybe.

That's just too accurate.

Quick, someone dip him in magma before he writes more.

Well my idea of book in Dwarf Fortress is like a history book regarding some event, and when the player read it the announcement will be like

"You learn of the -blah blah historical event-"

And the entry will be added to Legends mode if you made it that you can only look at discovered informations.

It'd be nice if there were genealogy books as well, so that it'd be easier to keep track of families and such, or books that noted who was king when, since it'd be easier than trawling through fifty lines of
'In 80, Urist McStoneworker tricked the Crazy Nation into believing he was Urist McWoodcutter
In 80, Urist McWoodcutter settled in Knifeeyes
In 80, Urist McWoodcutter stopped being a stoneworker
In 80, Urist McWoodcutter became a glassmaker.'

before you actually find out who was in charge.

And now we wait for the next installment. What fate befell the axelord who fought the seed-stealing duck? His infected finger could truly have severe repercussions for those who know him, what about friends and family? How will an amputated finger affect his fighting?
And what of our poor narrator, who had to watch that duck's death and then, through determination and admiration, managed to create a suitable memorial for the duck?

Truly an emotional and stirring piece.

I bet the narrator's gonna poison the axelord in his sleep.
