Endless fun. It's in a fantasy setting with hell etc, I'm pretty sure wizards can exist if necros do too.

We also get random ass, procedurally generated demons and forgotten beasts like shells filled with vomit and skinless elephants made of steam twisted into human form. Why not have randomness when wizards go mad? Of all the times you would end up with skinless capybaras burning your Dwarves to death, it would be at a time like that surely.

There's a huge difference between random effects when wizards go crazy and wizards "randomly" going crazy, which I think is what was being objected to ;P

You see though, I've argued with GreatWyrmGold for a long long time before about things like turning a failed caster of a fire spell into a giant firebreathing chicken. He objected to it on the grounds that he thought it was just "randomness for the sake of randomness".

Of course, in this case one can see the reasoning for the randomness, considering the wizard is going insane after all.

Its got nothing to do with being random in any form.

1. Action begins with dwarf magician training

2. Reaction of a dwarf failing to do a successful magic cast based on the napkin calculation of his previous skills + what he is trying to do.

3. Result some dorfs running around on fire.

Indeed, although that is another story. We are currently discussing the madness of a wizard, in which case randomness is to be expected.
