This was a few versions ago but I have a dwarf character that was able to hit bogeymen consistently and after killing off a couple of nights worth they just stopped coming after me. I don't know if it was a bug or a feature but I am thinking both.

Bogeyman can be pretty easy as long as you are a dwarf with some sort of weapons skill. Basically DF combat works like this: things with webs > martial trances > anything and everything

Yeah boogeymen seemed hard at first up until I realized that I can easily bite their lower bodies off after grappling them.  Then they just get a bit annoying.  Anyway at least you can lure them into enemies and watch them brawl it out.
