Beat an armored paladin 'unconscious' with a baton? He explodes in your face, taking away most of your health. So much for non-lethal.
I think I should sig this :P

Torrent a game before buying it to make sure it's worth your money.

I recommend The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind: Game of the Year Edition since I am under the impression that you can purchase said game on Steam and said game is definitely a very enjoyable game. Other than that I don't know what else to recommend since I don't have a Steam account.

That is probably a bad idea for anything that wasn't released more than five years ago. I am under the impression that as of midnight tonight anything that was released 2008 and prior that isn't still being supported and isn't protected by some organization is "alright" to pirate since it could be considered abandonware. I put the alright part in quotes because piracy in my opinion is kind of a gray area.

Abandonware is when the developer and publisher no long offer any support for the game, so it is nearly impossible to obtain without pirating it. Typically it relates to games from the '90s or even earlier, or games that need to be played with an emulator.

I will note that because of GoG there are a lot of good games from the 90s which are available again without piracy/abandonware, but if you want a discussion on it, you should go elsewhere instead of derailing this gentleman's thread into a topic which will get it locked.

Yeah, GoG does carry many classics that would otherwise be unavailable. It's a shame for those that don't make it on.
And yes, the whole topic should really be avoided in this thread.

So uh, how's Warband?

I think that for all its flaws, DX:HR is definitely worth the money. The bosses are stupid and the ending is detestable, but the rest of the game is fun. It even does an alright job at capturing the feel of the first Deus Ex. Conspiracies and augmentations and air vents.
