Yeah, I agree, Zombies need to give bone, sinew, fat, leather, etc, at least where it makes sense.

Bones and sinew perhaps, leather would probably be useless unless its from a hulk i guess. Fat would be tainted or rancid.
And out of a gaming perspective, it would make the stuff even more common than clothing is right now.

Lower the quantities of sniew you can get in places (or increase how much you need), same for bone. Rotten fat could be done.

You do already get leather from hulks IIRC.

Well it took about 20 attempts, but I finally figured out reliable way to do the really-bad-day start as a shower victim. Basically use static spawns and use the starting NPC to clear a path for you. He dies or a really strong zombie appears? Tough, you probably aren't surviving unless you loot the trail of corpses he makes.

This. And normal human skin isn't very useful as leather.

Schools are a godsend. Books, food, space, relatively rare chem ingredients... And the only downside is having to kill a bunch of children first.

FUN FACT!  Apparently human skin has been used for clothing and bookbinding purposes.  It was generally described as "very supple and soft" which is to say, technically leather, but functionally more like fleece, in terms of durability, flexibility, and thickness.

Didn't the Nazis do a few books bound in human skins?

I dunno if they -did- books, but I think they -had- books that others did.  They were all about some occultism.

Unrelated, are there any plans to make hunger/thirst less brutal?  Because as it is, sitting at home and reading makes you just as hungry as digging ditches...

My assumption on materials from zombies is that whatever process they went through to become zombies tends to make them unsuitable for construction or cooking purposes.  Bones soften as the calcium is leached out for nutrients by the slime inside, skin tends to be brittle, flaky, and rotten, sinews tend to be broken (due to undergoing the same decay as the skin and everything else) and replaced by whatever that ooze/slime thing that creates, moves, and basically gives structure to the zombie, which is also why the meat is tainted and unsuitable for consumption.  For instance, regular bones from zombies could lead to zombie bone broth, which doesn't sound healthy, like how you can't make Lecter-cuisine from tainted meat.  Tainted fat, I could see though, for the same reason as tainted meat, and possibly tainted bones as well if we can find an in-game use for them.
...
Hmmm, should I even spoiler minor things like that?
