Short quick ending.
THE END
Almost a full year passed since Pineapple was first founded, initially it faced some hardships with the influx of new migrants coming from Lemon and the surrounding wastelander settlements, many died trying to get to the entrance, and those who made it inside faced long periods of food shortages before Replica, Leaf and the other farmers managed to get their farms up and running.
Trade was severed early on, trade caravans stopped showing up after a number of them ended up completely massacred by the ghouls above.
The area above and around the entrance became littered with skeletons, wagons and rotting supplies, and became just as much of a part of the Cloudsdale wasteland as the scraps of civilization that had fallen from the skies hundreds of years ago.
What little was grown during their food shortages had to be rationed, and children (such as Coldnar, who despite his important role and maturity was still just that, a child) were given priority over the adults.
Many ponies ended up attenuating, the majority became overall slimmer, with Rina, the chubbiest of the bunch losing so much weight that he ended up looking almost like a normal pony.
He insisted however, that he was going to return to eating crescents for breakfast, lunch and dinner if he ever made it back to Lemon.
Overall, even after their food issues were dealt with, things didn't progress very well for the stable.
Replica and Zebio ended up drifting apart, and after various incidents where Zebio and Lycaeon both attempted to control the population and issue orders without her consent she had them both step down from their unofficial roles as her advisors.
Replica was highly paranoid about the stables security and the safety of those within, and so no attempts were made at security or even getting to the surface, and the original plan of breaching the caverns below (and discovering whatever secrets the pegasi of Cloudsdale might have hidden there) was completely abandoned.
Because of her caution and paranoia Pineapple remained technologically and industrially stagnant, and aside from gradually improved food (made by aspiring cooks such as Corai using the fresh produce they grew indoors) the ponies there lived just as poorly as they did in the early days.
There was simply nothing to do, but sit around, eat, talk and wait.
One day however, a squad of heavily armed ponies came to the area and exterminated the local ghoul population.
They identified themselves as members of the Lemon defense force who had came to bring the ponies of Pineapple back to Lemon, because their efforts in attempting to establish a new stable in the outskirts of Cloudsdale had been fruitless.
The soldiers expressed great surprise in finding so many living there, they had been given orders to just go there and bring back whatever ponies and supplies had survived the year.
It didn't take much convincing to get the population of Pineapple to leave, nopony really wanted to stay there and Replica had become a bit of a nerve wreck.
In fact, the only pony who had even considered Pineapple worth saving and staying in was Maklak, one of the militia sergeants, but both the soldiers and rest of the stable insisted on leaving...
"...Replica? Are you coming or what?"
Replica sat amidst their little farming plots, she had been sitting there since she had finished preparing for the journey back home to Lemon, she wore her hooded cloak, ragged old jumpsuit, two filled saddle packs and a regular pair of dusty boots.
She was clutching something as if it were a baby.
They had all sorts of stuff growing there now, quarry bushes, sweet pods, cave wheat, plenty of synth-reeds... some beetroot and of course, the radishes.
There were also a few smaller plots with 'experimental' plants, where they had planted mystery seeds and such to see what came out of it.
It was all plants she herself had helped plant and grow using loving care and natural earth pony farming prowess.
Most of the plants had been hastily picked for the journey by whatever ponies had finished preparing, which ended up being the soldiers, older children and specialists (clothesmakers, gem cutters, etc), they didn't really care much for the plots and just trampled all over them.
Somepony put a heavy hoof on her shoulder, she looked up with a seemingly lost expression.
It was Splint.
"Replica? What are you..." he saw what she was clutching, it was a pineapple, or more specifically, a squashed pineapple of an unusually pale color.
The only one she had managed to grow in there.
He tilted his head at her and sighed. "Oh, Replica..."
He leaned down and grabbed hold of her, "Common, lets go." He helped her up.
She didn't resist, she just dropped the squashed pineapple and went with him.
The two left the Pineapple farms and went off to join the rest of the stable and the squad of power armored soldiers from Lemon who had came to bring them back home.
Pineapple was abandoned, and they all made the long journey home.
...
What happened next is... well.. a story for another time...
See you guys, remember to check in with the next fruit stable in a few days.
EDIT: Epilogue 1.01, hopefully it will somewhat please the unpleasable Maklak.
