Day 5Lets wrap this up
The caravan from Day 4 is completely butchered on the spot when the game unpaused.
They did absolutely *nothing* against the one ghoul reaver that murderized them.
The memorial hall I had dug out is engraved. Might as well, there wasnt much we could do at the time aside from sit on our hands and smooth walls.
Slabs for the previous lost souls were placed in the memorial hall.
Some more bridges are connected to the lever, the entrance is nearing completion...
Kindness Fruit's office (Bookeeper & Manager) is smoothed up and engraved, just cause.
There are some serious issues trying to force Lojack (our only assigned Architect) to do her one job, her unit's AI kept giving me the finger despite having her labors reassigned, eventually she did her job and the final bridge was designed.
Many more bedrooms are dug out, I was expecting migrants within a few months so I figured that I might as well dig some rooms.
We dig out what will eventually become our first hospital.
Its pretty small, but should at least serve as a decent place to dump our injured in for the moment.
Slabs to Focus Bastionclean, Coast Twilightlantern and Leaf Blueleaf (the fallen traders) are engraved and placed.
I remember that it felt a little disheartening to see that many slabs that early on and how I got a little worried about the migrants... made me become a little more focused on our entrance project.
Turrets were moved to cover the new entrance, they are just left in the corridor for now, we'll build fortifications and such for them later.
New farming area was dug out, I actually did assign all 9 farms to grow Dimple Cups, which can only be used for dying. But then Maklak pointed out what an idiot I am (<3) and the plots were all set to grow Sweet Pods instead.
No idea how I could have forgotten that, farming is like my favorite thing to do in DF, I should have known that.
Most of everything is linked over at the entrance ,floodgates and bridges have separate levers.
The draining chamber floodgates are also all linked.
The brook freezes over!
Despite the world map telling me that this was a warm embark not far from a scorching zone!
The channel is slowly getting drained of water...
The stable entrance is tested after I forget to raise the bridges after breaching the wall.
Two ghoul reavers try to batter a floodgate, one pegasus and one earth pony.
I raise the bridges and they both stop attacking, despite the pegasus reaver being a building destroyer and a flier.
They both leave my entrance in peace.
This means that my entrance project is a success, placing floodgates on your end of the bridge DOES block flying building destroyer pathing, the reavers cant get inside and cant damage my floodgates. They also dont fly into my drowning pit and up our wells either.

We need more beds, and we have been getting some synth-reed to thresh.
So a loom is built, 5 synth-reeds are threshed and turned into cloth and 5 rock beds are built.
Paranoia causes me to dig out even more bedrooms, making me ready for a doubling of my current pop.
Two barracks and an archery range are dug out, the archery range has Maklak's old suggested design which saves ammo hitting walls with channels dug out underneath them.
While the water is still frozen I take a risk and dig out a large cistern and connect it to the dried out channel.
The water who gets into the cistern cant just dry up, so we'll have an emergency supply of (stagnant?) water during the freezing periods.
Naturally since we ran out of well water I had to brew some drink.
Got a whole lot more drink than I expected.
Ironically just a few minutes after I ordered drinks the water thawed.
DF is funny like that.
A sadistic caravan guard shows up. Odd.
I check for engravable ponies, I have engraved everyone.
I look ghosts up, DF bug, caravan guards cant be memorialized.
Ok... I guess I'll just keep him then... just to be sure I check what kind of a ghost a "sadistic" ghost is.
Turns out that sadistic ghosts can scare things to death, literally, by making their hearts stop or something.
At that point I save my game and go on for a dozen minutes just to see what effect it would have.
It dents my turrets and kills PSI.
