Ripriver attacks from Long range to trigger his passive and get into Melee.

Ripriver does not have an available Long-range weapon or ability!

So he needs to be doing a Long-range capable attack to use it... does the attack occur before or after the shift?

Edit: How far can Ripriver spit?

Ask Goom-bess about the fairy in our bottle: +javierpwn, +GWG (2)
Go see what Cain wants: +draco1234, +GWG (2)
Hide behind the pillar and take pot shots at the sentry: +Toaster, +GWG (2)
Ripriver: Trigger passive with Melee attack: +Toaster, +GWG (2)
Go west then bust a hole in the southern wall: +flabort, +monk12 (2)
Hit that checkpoint to see where we can go: +monk12 (1)
Grab the red-bound scroll: +Derm, -flabort, -monk12, +TherosPherae, +javierpwn (1)

If we don't get some tiebreaker votes, you're asking for the GM to choose two-three suggestions :P

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

So, Freeformshooler is implying that Ripriver hasn't even reached tier 0, or he's saying that he's a significant deviation.

Since it's page 777, we should get a luck bonus to our rolls.

Also, I'm almost certain that the orange Soul Star could be used to modify rooms and exits. It says "Visiting Requirement: True" which suggests that it can toggle that on or off, or at least check it for each room. We could possibly use it to change which rooms we need to go through.

Fine.

Ripriver floats over to the Sentry and melees him.  Go the long way.

(Attack: 20! CRITICAL HIT! (4+1)*2) You hide behind the pillar, charge up your Decoagulator, and let loose a furious blast of blood-charged energy. Your blast tears the Sentry apart!

Goom-bess doesn't know anything about the fairy. They're not enemies, at least.

FTFY.
Aw, I didn't get the "clear background" thing...

Investigate the "corpse" for lootable stuff.

:)

So how do we get across?  Should we have Ripriver peek ahead since he can float?

EDIT-  Can he carry us across?

According to that map FFS put up... we're getting close to the Stone Dragon... enemies can't rabbit punch us when we enter a room can they?

Stone Dragon is two rooms east.  Assuming we can travel this gap, we have no reason to go in that room any more, unless we want to beat it for the SP fountain.

The lesson to take from this DL is to deal with any enemies before screwing with special items, and that clever use of terrain is worth the extra thought.
