I'm not really against fighting Horologue, just the 'superweapon' plan we seem to be going for. It's risky(ish, a 1 to Bloodshape will probably have serious repercussions, and using the Destiny Dice on an unnecessary roll is a waste as we can't control when to use them), and bloodshaping/reabsorbing until we get a weapon we like will take a while (and probably try FFS's patience [insanity penalty springs to mind]). The sniper-rifle idea, in contrast, takes far less time (the DL2 Savepoint messing can be left off at a cost of 4 damage off of the shot if we give the rifle to Goombess instead, although we might need to switch perspective to Al for the fight as Ciro won't be involved (always a risk, as well as costing us soul charge), and will probably be quicker even with the diversion.
In the combat it should be swift whichever we use thanks to Tactical Battling, due to no rolls-to-hit. Damage rolls probably still exist though, and I'd rather have a guaranteed d8+20 damage than a guaranteed unknown amount of damage any day of the week.

In short: The super weapon plan is a gamble which takes more effort to pull off and may not even pay dividends.

There's Plan Superweapon which involves bloodshaping an OP superweapon (which I have sincere reservations about since any plan that relies on "the GM will give us an OP weapon because we ask nicely" seems fundamentally unstable,) and there's a few variations on "Al and Cherish Buff Up and Tag Team," most popularly with that fancy pants sniper rifle we made a while back.

There are two:

NAV's mega-overkill plan to defeat Horologe: Final draft

Step 1: Ciro absorbs the shotgun and revolver.
Step 2: Ciro bloodshapes a weapon. Something ludicrously overcompensatory, like a gatling rocketlauncher with a chainsaw bayonet. Heal, reabsorb, and try again until we get something perfect. Use a reroll die if Ciro fails catastrophically.
Step 3: Al equips the hard hat and bartering ram. Cherish equips the superweapon and the blood band. Al use knight rubric and Cherish use karmic rubric.
Step 4: Al cast's the fully upgraded bulwark on himself and Cherish. Everyone overreplenishes their SP.
Step 5: Al and Cherish enter the arena.
Step 6: Al tanks with the hard hat. Cherish shoots with the weapon. Use dice if Cherish misses.
Step 7: We win the dps race.

It's Simple really. Re-absorb Anticoagulater (the Shotgun) (+4MSP). Abuse MSP, giving us 21SP. Save. Bloodshape Cupid's Assault (that sniper rifle). Restore at Save Point. Enter fight. If starting at long range, open fire, using the rifle's Imbue Shot ability with all of our SP. With the range bonus, that's basically a 3-in-4 chance of getting d8+20 damage (21-1 DR). From then on, basic attacking should drop him pretty quickly. If we don't start at long range, we can just have Al hold him off for a turn or two whilst we get into position (guarding, for 12DR with Bulwark, Met Hat & Rubric he should be able to absorb pretty much anything until the Bulwark fails, and then still have 7DR)
Of course, if we fluff that one shot, we can either try to wear him down with normal attacks (with Al guarding we should win the war of attrition) or second shift, burn some soul charge, and see what Holy damage does to a Daemon.
