Yes. I think that at that point in the story, the mechanics of this weren't fully developed, but the means and end result were pretty similar.

Diving into the void would have wasted an enormous amount of time. There were a bunch of sub-dungeons like the one we found Willborn Riltia in scattered throughout the void, made out of discarded dungeon level pieces waiting to be recycled -- and the Last Seraphim Statue wasn't kidding about some of those rooms being "unfit" for dungeoneering.

The warrens is a fucked up place, and that makes total sense because it's literally hell.

We had classes and stuff, and Ciro lost her shit at us -- was there ever any plan to really delve into the role of the players within the Warrens?

Monstrous illborn are actually the mutated remains of adventurers and other creatures who fell into the dungeon, reshaped along with the dungeon level according to the spells Oric forces the Last Seraphim to constantly cast. (This is what he and Spira were checking on when we saw them on DL2).

"Remains?" Are illborn literally shambling corpses?

What about their relation to the Siblings? Were wisps different from horrifying white noise creatures in and for purely cosmetic reasons?
