If we guard, we're just letting the met get more hits on us, considering it can do long range attacks itself.
Thus I think the way forward is to give slog the scanner, pick up the rifle, and shoot at the met, as ciro, for AL to see about treating Riltia's damage if possible, for Riltia to block, and for slog to just uh.. I guess try to treat its own damage??
BUT THEY'RE BLOCKING NEXT TURN. The only time we can attack is when they're about to attack, and they just finished attacking, so they'll spend this turn blocking. THEREFORE, it'll be absolutely useless to try and attack. It'd just waste time.
So what's your plan, then?
You're also assuming that block = invulnerable.

The Link system sounds neat. I just need a game to link up with it.
...Maybe A Beginner's Guide could be a prequel of sorts?
In the case of Mets, they're nigh invulnerable while blocking. Invulnerable in Mega's world, Nigh in Ciro's.

Spinoff rules apply, and we're moving on a tactical grid similar to Battle Network anyway.

Hm... I wonder if it'd be possible to link to different worlds than the handful of ancient games FFS had intended.

My curiosity mainly stems from wanting to cheese our current world with useful items and concepts from others, of course.

In fact:

Examine Linking System fine print.

Well, even if that is the case, what's your plan?
To do out inventory swapping with Slog, and try to recover HP. Or Just hang out.

We're too far away. And I doubt we can jump the gap from down below.

CIRO: Give SLOG Spellbook of Breeze, pick up Rifle, move three spaces to the right. Fire at the MET.
SLOG: Move three spaces to the right, cast Frizz at MET.
AL: Jump three spaces right, fall, attack MET with that Polarized Blade Thingy.
RILTIA: Jump three spaces right, fall, attack MET with BFS.

Next turn, this is the important part, as I said Next Turn which I shall emphasis, AL and RILTIA will GUARD, soaking the hits from the MET without posing any trouble such as death to CIRO and SLOG. Or attacking again and soaking the hits, whatever.

Blue Man (Sans Group): Talky words more about new combat system.tisjoke, this

Why? Again, it's not like we can do anything significant this turn, but if we have Ciro shoot first next turn, and, say, AL jump down and swing right after, the damage is more than likely going to kill the Met before it can attack. We always move first, remember?

We never tested our JUMP ability in this scenario, did we? Let's do that at least.

If we decide Ciro can't damage them and thus shouldn't do anything, I propose we do some makeshift bandaging like Al did in his first fight with us.  We could REALLY use the +1 hp.  If Freeform tries to argue against it due to our wounds being from giant pellets which would bruise, I remind him that bruising is internal bleeding, which blood magic is somewhat well equipped to regulate.

Urge to make ridiculous short-lived item mule game... rising.

Meanwhile I can't follow all this combat-talk. I'm only good for logistics and even then I'm cheating.

Personally I preferred the Santa Maria. It's definitely the one that discovered the genre. 5/5

Bah, the Hindenburg was the best ship, 6/5 all the way. It really put a new dimension on ship travel.
