5 bucks and 2 minutes = 5 hour grind

Meh.  But, people will still pay for it.  Look at MMOs...  Gold selling is as rampant as it is today, because it works.  It is the consumer base with the monies that is the problem and the corporate heads naturally see that as an avenue of profit.  Guild Wars 2 and Diablo 3 of the big names totally saw that, but both using differing methods.

I dont support these big company, i dont buy game but i do play them. Do the math.

I'm following the same road too. Why would I buy a game that punishes the honest purchasers while people who play it without paying for it are playing it without any restraints? I might as well stop being a honest purchaser.

Yeah, it sounds like a stupid excuse to justify something. But I'm not going to throw money at a company and then complain about them. I'm not a hypocrite.

That's just as bad in my book.  When EA sees a 90% piracy rate on a game, do they think "oh, people are protesting our draconian and avaricious ways, we'd better lighten up?"  No, they think "we need to drop the hammer on these kids," and that's why those of us who try to purchase legitimately get shafted.  Thanks, bud >:/

and they are damn right!

you want to boycott them? fine. don't buy their stuff.

piracy on the other hand is illegal. and while I despise those company and I despise copyright law, a law is still a law.

I was afraid we'd miss the monthly piracy debate.

Pfft, that debate isn't even a debate.
For me, personal morals win out over the law every time. Obviously, the potential for punishment also factors into it, but in absence of that I'd pretty much ignore the law and just do what I felt was okay.

I hate it too.  Especially F2P.  Its a business model that preys on the mentally ill.

Isn't Dwarf Fortress F2P?

Dwarf Fortress is just free.

F2P signifies that while playing the game is free, there is component that you have to pay for(or can pay for).

Yeah this.  F2P is a business model.  I got no problem with just free stuff.  :)

It's freeware.
F2P implies some sort of cashshop offering boosts useful items and vanity items.
F2P in itself is not a problem. Things bet bad when paying players get a ridiculously huge edge over non paying.

Dark space for example (a browser game) has uranium you cna get by doing quests ETC (a very measely ammount) and mundane credits.
Dredits can buy you a ship and weapons but if you get destroyed you have to repair it with uranium (or buy another ship with credits).
Ships bought with uranium are also usually 3-4 times stronger than credit bought ships.
And on top of all that you can also buy x3 ammo with uranium that deals triple damage... so yeah DS is a perfect example of a terrible F2P model.

For me, personal morals win out over the law every time.

Violating personal morals often leads to feelings of guilt.
Violating the law often results in anal rape.

Only if you get caught. And arrested. And the other prisoners don't like you.

If you think a game is not worth what you're paying for it, then don't buy it.

The issue is that games do not easily have replacements that foods, books, hardware, ovens, fridges, movies, paintings, and other products do.

If you don't buy very specific games you can often be locked out of an genre for years or forever in some cases.

Meaning you have to take what comes along with it for better or ill.

It is a lot more complicated then just "Gamers are entitled" as often this is more like extortion.

It's like taking half the Catholic children and forcing them to wait until April for Christmas, presents wrapped under the tree within a barbed wire, electric, mined fence, out of reach. And by the time they get the gift, the others have been playing with their toys for much longer.
hahahahaha
