Well that was anticlimactic.
My character continues bashing the chain, roaring at the demon to "come out and fight, damn him."

No. I suppose there are similarities, but I'm fairly certain angry birds doesn't let me charge into a battalion of knights with a car made of circular saws.

"Right. Since the chains don't seem to pose any immediate threat, we should probably start looking around for a bit. You're probably better at it, so I suggest you take a look at the doors. Alright?" This was addressed to Remark.

Welp, you don't find anything else besides more chains. Seriously, it seems there are chains everywhere for no real reason

No it's okay, it's just that your post implied that you were actually aware that they were having trouble. Which, given the distance involved, would at least require a listen check. Going after them because they might need help is fine and makes sense.
Also, I imagined that once I got there, I paused before intervening and trying to help.

"When did I call myself a scout?

"Anyways, why are we poking around in the chains again? We've determined a dearth of kytons. Shan't we move onwards?"

"Maybe this used to be an old prison? If so, it begs the question what the chains were holding and where said beings went."

In any case it would be a battle of critical thinking and I refuse to fight an unarmed individual.

"I believe by scout he is referring to me... however I probably more qualify as a spy, with my specialties as they are.  As such, to avoid any further difficulties in either practice or morale, I will be retreating to the rear to protect us from anything that may try to creep up on us."

I take it we're just waiting on role to search the door?

Yeah but I'm speaking about spelling. It's a very minor issue, but it pops up relatively often.
