Edit: Also, the dollar appears to be collapsing.

It is?

The author of that article is a moron.  For instance he says the dollar is collapsing because foreign countries have large holdings of the currency... but might fall further because they might sell those holdings.  You don't need to be an economist to see the contradiction there.  But as an economist you'd know that the first part is the stupid part, they have the large holdings of dollars specifically because they are trying to inflate the dollar value and make exports of their goods more competative.

The much less stupid story would be "why is the Renminbi rising?".  And the answer would be: because the chinese government, afraid of inflation has decided they want it to in order to foster more domestic consumption.  They are pursuing this policy by no longer using their reserves of dollars to artificially peg the Renminbi to a lower level and are instead letting it get traded.

They made major progress a decade ago. Americe is just catching up.
Regarding marriage? Not really. A decade ago (2004) only two countries (Netherlands and Belgium) had legalized same-sex marriage, and one Canadian province (Ontario) and one US state (Massachusetts) were on the cusp on doing so.

So America isn't really "catching up"; in fact, it's been in the game the entire time.

That's the thing about being Belgian, the rest of the world is always behind you on social issue (Except for the Netherlands. We'll get you one day, Netherlands!)

The Belgian government is, in fact, just a group of chums who meet in a waffle house. In fact, the parliament is officially called  die Waffelkammer, de Wafelkamer, or la Chambre des Gaufres.

I'm pretty sure we have more than one parliament. There's also a senate.

Well, you're arguing semantics here, we do have regional and community parliaments, but when you speak about the Parliament you know you're referring to the federal one. Just like when you speak of Congress, you know we're talking about the US Congress and not one of the state parliament.

Congress is also a euphemism, Sheb, generally for sex. Helgo was referring to the whole clinton thing, however many years back that's been now.

None of the state legislatures operate on a parliamentary system. /nitpick
