Actually, it generally did, in its usually objective non-commentary sort of way. Most complaints abut the BBC's conduct came from the "yes" camp who complained they were not "pro-yes" enough, rather than there being a pro-no slant.

The BBC was like that at first but towards the end of the campaign they started taking the piss, like televising an awful lot of stuff from Gordon Brown and the Labour Party including political broadcasts that both outnumbered and outlasted any pro-Yes coverage. Political editor Nick Robertson was at it as well with his misrepresentation of Salmond at the end of the campaign causing a small scandal. I don't think there was a conspiracy - I think the BBC are just incompetent and weren't up to the task. They are still heavily influenced by the establishment of course.

How about some navel gazing?

I found a few Guardian articles on the need to imbue progressivism in England with a sense of national identity, thereby rescuing Englishness from the far right who are turning it into the identity of protest.

The first deals mostly with that stuff while the second by Kettle goes a bit out-there. At least he gives good analysis e.g. progressives fearing the rural and parochial as much as the lordly stuff.

EU could launch Russian-language European TV channel to combat 'aggressive' Russian propaganda.

I was wondering what people here think about this.
Oh hey, we're already doing that. Kinda...
It's more like translations of existing articles for russian speakers than any counter-propaganda channel, no idea if it's actually usefull...

guys, if you don't like people replying to your posts, just don't post back.

Toady does a good job of moderation, so anything you get in response probably isn't harassment or anything (if it is, report it)

Given the financial problems that they have (and Iceland doesn't exactly have a huge economy like France or Germany), not real surprising.

Well, they never were really into joining the EU anyway. AFAIK, it was mostly out of desperation after the financial crisis. Also, a way to try to weasel out of billions their banks owe to the UK and Netherlands.

I thought the financial crisis was after they joined the EU? I don't really know much about the situation other than that they had a financial crisis and that they joined the EU at some point.

Pretty much all the major powers did during WWII, the US had plenty, Japan probably did, so did Russia, Germany too. No idea about France and Italy though.

hey, the only reason the world has gotten cool things like GPS and cellphones is because of weird projects done by various countries in the name of murdering people.

France was pretty much a non entity, and Italy needed to get the waffe down before they could get to the wunder.
