Dwarf Therapist (Maintained Branch) v.20.4 !!Health View Poll!!
« on: February 15, 2013, 06:56:07 pm »

i've been meaning to get a new thread started for the branch version of dwarf therapist i've been maintaining for the past year. i'll update this page with more details in the near future but for now i'll keep it short and sweet:

this is a branched version of the 'official' dwarf therapist. it fixes many of the bugs on the main bug tracker, as well as introducing a plethora of new features.

there's a lot of confusion about this branch as i was posting updates and progress in the original thread, as it was my hope that the changes would be merged into the official build along the road. the previous developer maintaining the software hasn't been around for quite some time, and i believe there have been enough questions and interest in this branch now to warrant a new thread!

please post any questions, concerns, bugs or feature requests and i'll do my best to keep up!

v.20.4 Change Summary
  • fixed the right click menu for squad assignment and custom professions

v.20.3 Change Summary
  • fixed a problem with custom role scripts removing some characters when loading to edit
  • fixed a problem with custom views not showing up for editing in the dock window

v.20.2 Change Summary
  • new trained level column for animals
  • caged trainable animals will show up in DT now so you can monitor the trained levels
  • the default animal view now also contains the profession, the names have been updated, and grouping has been improved
  • squad names show up in the tooltip (optional) and the dwarf detail pane
  • custom roles can be imported and exported
  • roles with scripts can be edited in the role editor, and the first 250 characters of the script are shown in the cell tooltip
  • recent thoughts now show the number of times they've occurred
  • the recent thought dock shows the total number of thought occurrences instead of a list of names on the tooltip
  • after reading/refreshing DT the current selection will persist
  • animal butchering/caged columns can be sorted and toggling butchering highlights the changes like toggling labors
  • fixed role preference weights applying to all custom roles
  • fixed an issue with skills below the first level showing incorrect progress % towards the next level
  • fixed an issue with trait ratings in roles being incorrect when using mods with multiple castes

v.20.1 Changes

v.20 Patch Notes Summary
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Possible Future Features & Changes
  • health view
  • current speed column
  • display syndrome 'buffs' somewhere/how
  • show squad information in details pane and/or tooltip
  • add some kind of equipment status view

For some reason, no dwarves appear on the screen for the latest version.  I had no trouble with the previous version but this one appears troublesome.

Oh, I had to clear user settings  (and then restart the program...twice!?).  It was very, very strange.  Now annoying too, as I'll need to replace all my lovely custom professions and color coding :p

But otherwise looks good.

Hmm, now I'm getting crashes every time I try to create a custom profession from a dwarf.

i started the program while not in dwarf mode (start screen or world gen) and it crashes after trying to connect to dwarf fortress and showing the error message "dwarf fortress has either stopped running, ..." (trimmed since you know the rest)

it only crashes after clicking ok.

it does not crash if i start it when dwarf fortress is not running. connecting to dwarf fortress after i start it does make it crash.

try deleting your .ini files

I'd start with your %appdata%/roaming/udp software/*.ini (back it up first)

and then the one inside your /etc folder in the Dwarf Therapist dir...

then open and rerun everything (make sure your running from an extracted folder, i.e. full install, don't just use the exe or something).

Edit/update:
if that doesn't work, then upload your save to mediafire (let him know the mod your using) and give the link to splinterz so he can see what the issue is... but it's working for me.

Awesome. It's good to see this in its own place. Now I don't have to check code.google so much.

Hey Splinterz,  thanks for all the hours spent on this.  My DT runs great on Win 7 with no problems, and I love it.  Excellent work!
